A drama about growing up, woven by juveniles...

A completely original animation based on the hit PlayStation® 2 title, Persona 3!

Volume 1 Introduction

The story is based in Ayanagi City, which faces the Sea of Japan. It's a futuristic city that survived the outbreak of "Mass Apathy Syndrome" ten years ago. Shin Kanzato (17) and his brother Jun (14) meet their eldest brother Ryo (28), who is a young Chief Officer at Ayanagi City's police station, for the first time in ten years.

Meanwhile, the city is facing a string of mysterious incidents. Ship crew members disappear from their underwater submarine. The Apathy Syndrome resurfaces, much like ten years ago. The Reverse case, a series of student murders, intensifies. Ryo investigates an organization involved in all of the above incidents. One of these incidents results in the awakening of Shin's Persona. The wheel of fate begins to turn for this family of brothers.

Volume 2 Introduction

The peaceful days at Ayanagi city came to an end for the Kanzato brothers when the eldest brother, Ryo, disappeared one night. His childhood sweetheart was found dead and he was the prime suspect. Shin and Jun deal with the loss of their only remaining family while taking up their brother's will to use their Personas to fight against the dark presence growing in the city. The world begins to distort as human bodies and psyches begin to mismatch. Shin and his friends are asked to form a Persona fighting force to combat the Marebito, the ones behind the Reverse cases, as well as their leader Kujo. It is up to Shin and his Persona to stop the distortion and bring an end to the Marebito and their twisted goals of exploiting Personas.

Shin Kanzato

A second-year student at Naginomori Academy's High School. He doesn't get scared often, but that doesn't mean he's particularly brave. He's an honest, average seventeen-year-old. Since his parents passed away, he grew up under his aunt's care in Tokyo. Now, he has decided to come back to his hometown, Ayanagi City. He holds a deep respect for his older brother and cares about his younger brother.

Ryo Kanzato

The eldest son of the Kanzato family and also the Chief Officer at Anayagi Police Station. He wears a stoic mask and rarely cracks a smile. He is investigating a mysterious case all on his own. Some investigators question his methods because he seems to use his authority to keep his findings confidential. He tries to push his two younger brothers away, even after ten years of silence. He clashes with Shin, but he seems to be more reserved with Jun..

Jun Kanzato

The youngest of the Kanzato family. A second-year student at Naginomori Academy's Middle School. He doesn't like to interact with strangers. He looks up to Shin, but that doesn't mean he's a typical younger brother. He often acts more mature than Shin. Sometimes, he shows a different, feminine side of himself and causes Shin some concern.

Megumi Kayano

A second-year student at Naginomori Academy's High School and Shin's classmate. She's energetic and optimistic. She's very caring towards anyone, no matter their age or status. She doesn't like dishonesty and tends to cry easily. She belongs to the Street Dance Club. She loathes Shadow Extraction, a popular new activity among the students of her school.

Takuro Sakakiba

One of Shin's classmates. He seems unfriendly and intimidating on the surface, but is open to people he approves of. Apparently, there's a secret behind his curly hair, which he claims to be natural. Ever since he entered the school, he's had a crush on Megumi Kayano.

Kanaru Morimoto

One of Shin's classmates. She is quiet and soft-spoken. She has that "rich, innocent girl" look and is often noted for her gorgeous figure. She can be a little out of it sometimes. She gets good grades in various classes and shows a great interest in Shadow Extraction, which is said to be dangerous.

Toma Shikura

The ringleader of a secret organization, Marebito. He is always calm and quiet. He bases all his actions on his strong beliefs. His eyes shimmer with a sign of sorrow.

Yuji Kimoto

One of the culprits of a series of Reverse incidents in Ayanagi City. He's rather violent and inconsiderate. He's the most aggressive of the Marebito. He respects Toma like an older brother.

Sotaro Seno

The youngest of the Marebito. He prefers to act alone rather than in a group. His young looks belie a slightly insane demeanor.

Saki Tachibana

A mysterious Persona user. The only female among the Marebito. She repects and follows Toma as more than a leader.

Eiko Nikaido

An inspector at the Northern Nippon Inspection Lab. She's known the Kanzato brothers for many years, and she treats Shin and Jun as her younger brothers. It seems that she and Ryo were in a special relationship while the two younger brothers were out of the city.

Kunio Ito

Head of Ayanagi Police Station's Criminal Department. He's an old-fashioned detective who missed out on the opportunity to climb the ladder of success. He questions Ryo's secretive way of investigating the mysterious incidents.

Tomohiro Narasaki

One of the investigators at Ayanagi Police Station. Ito's younger partner. He's a passionate detective who believes in honesty and justice. He's not good at tailing or staking out because his tall figure makes him stand out.

Akihiko Sanada

He is placed at the Ayanagi Police Station as a counselor from headquarters since Ryo Kanzato went missing. He's been on the job as long as Ryo. He's participated in building a Persona Special Force as one of the main supervisors. He doesn't talk about his past much, but indignation against the people who disrespect Personas can be felt in his words.

Wakasa Kusu

Unlike most of the Marebito, he is easy-going and worry-free. However, he is the most aggressive at taking Personas from Latents, which shows his vengeance toward something.

Shiiba Kusu

Wakasa's younger twin. Compared to his brother, he is quiet and doesn't interact much with other Marebito members. He doesn't know Wakasa was being abused by their parents when they were younger, but instead thinks he didn't receive any attention. He greatly respects Kujo.

Taichi Udo

He is quiet and sensible. He is the most intelligent Marebito. Toma and he were like best friends before. He showed the most devotion toward Kujo's teaching, "saving people by reuniting the isolated unconsciousness," but he's been sensing the dangers of distortion caused by interfering with the mental world.
