Re: Can we get the Xbox One version of Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness?

Experience Inc. has announced that they will be self-publishing the Xbox One version of Stranger of Sword City digitally in the US, using NISA's Vita translation. I hope that 5pb will decide to do the same for Psycho-Pass on XBO. They already localized the 360 version of Phantom Breaker: Battle Grou...

At least it's going to have far fewer recycled assets than a Neptunia game.

Re: Can we get the Xbox One version of Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness?

This isn't my project, and because of NDAs I wouldn't really be able to give any specifics anyway, but I think all I should really have to say about this is that different companies are interested in releasing on different platforms. It's not always our decision. Not that you were allowed to confir...

Re: NISA Press conference 2015 (22nd Feb; 6pm-9pm PST)

Regardless PC games aren't required to be rated to be published on Steam. So ESRB doesn't have much to do with the discussion. No studio with a professional reputation is going to actually do it, unless they're an edgy indie act developing something like HuniePop, Postal or Hatred that's deliberate...

Re: Why Is English Voice Acting Dying in the US?

I like Bamco's approach to voiceovers in the newer Tekken games. Every character speaks their own language. Of course, this only works for a particular sort of fighting game.

Re: Can we get the Xbox One version of Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness?

I should mention that Stranger of Sword City also has an Xbox One version that NISA is not localizing. So there's more evidence to this. All my points can apply to Stranger of Sword, with only point 3 being less of a thing, since Strange of Sword is not a literal anime game, but still falls pretty ...

Re: Can we get the Xbox One version of Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness?

For one, could just be that NISA doesn't have the best relations with Microsoft. This is the least likely scenario, but a possibility to think of. I think it's actually the most likely scenario, since it is true that neither Nippon Ichi nor NISA have ever released a game for an Xbox platform. Maybe...

Re: What should a consumer do about edits/self censorship/etc?

And since the majority of the Japanese buyers absolutely HATE digital downloads, that will probably never happen. They've have unlimited download plans and high bandwidth way longer than the US has, and for much cheaper prices. Unlike over here, bandwidth simply isn't the issue, they just don't lik...

Re: Hot Topic Game Discussion

Do video games cause or lead to the development of issues like antisocial behavior, addiction, desensitization, sexual ambiguity, etc...in gamers? Seeing a lot of BEEP BOOP responses to this from users who likely feel the need to protect the sanctity of their chosen hobby. As someone who spent way ...

Re: List of future NISA anime licenses

I'd just like to say that I've never bought a NISA anime release because they're all hardsubbed, and this will continue for me until they start making releases with subtitles that can be turned off.

Re: Why Is English Voice Acting Dying in the US?

Occasionally, recording a dub has to still be cheaper than paying certain Japanese talent houses the licensing fees for A-list seiyuu. It was for this reason that Atlus had to release Growlanser IV on PSP with all the voices stripped out. (They didn't record a dub either, though.)

Let me know when an Atlus-developed game releases in the US with Japanese voice options, lol. That'll be the day.

Re: NISA Press conference 2015 (22nd Feb; 6pm-9pm PST)

NISA why the heck would you censor Criminal Girls on PC? It has been shown that games that have patches or are uncensored on Steam do better than their censored counterparts. Mugen Souls on PC barely moved 15k units since it was censored and received complaints from numerous users about it being ce...

Re: Can we get the Xbox One version of Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness?

IIRC, Microsoft makes you commit to a certain number of Xbox titles in order to publish or something. If that was ever true, it hasn't been for a long time. MS has gotten much "friendlier" with regards to Xbox publishing standards in the past few years, and also stopped charging money for...
