The gamefaqs guide has 34515 hits to date... I was expecting my numbers to be better than that. No idea about actual sales. However, if an average of 1 person visits a (free) guide per 1 game purchased... You get the picture.

I suppose what really matters is whether Red/IF/NISA want to hook up for another stab at it. If I were in their shoes, I'd introduce a new anime style IP on PS3 with a similar gameplay formula featuring true 1:1 dating:3D-SRPG. PS2 is pretty much done, and I can't see Wii working out, especially not with "custom firmware" BS.

Would the Red/IF/NISA budget be large enough for a decent PS3 title? The development costs on the PS3 are :shock: :shock: :shock: compared to the PS2/Wii.... :(

Depends on what you think of the graphics in Trinity Universe and especially Neptune. That's what Idea Factory can do on the PS3 without breaking too many banks.

Technically, Red and Idea Factory already made an anime-style dating-game/SRPG for the PS3. Apparently, being made by Idea Factory and not Sega's Overworks team makes a bit of a difference...

You mean Agarest War? It didn't keep the dating sim as the level up mechanic, though, right? Also I am more interested in 3D-SRPGs like VP:Silmeria, Valkyria, RoF, SW:SLML. Critics and gamers have highlighted the battle systems as a strong point in each of those titles.

Coming from IF, Trinity Universe and Neptune look fine to me, though I won't know for certain for another few weeks. New anime IP with 1:1 DS-lvUP:3D-SRPG gameplay. It'd be better coming from Sega and/or as part of the ST franchise, but I feel IF could do it, too. :mrgreen:

I really do hope it's selling well. It might push Sega to make new titles if they see the Western audience being interested in it!

I wish it were that simple.....sadly, any new or older Sakura Wars localized in the U.S. will be like the Tales of Vesperia (PS3 - Namco) or Cross Edge Dash(360 - NISA) of Sega.... :cry:

Apparently, NISA's president answered questions about Sakura Wars during an interview with Siliconera. I assume it will be posted sometime this week. I'm nervous. :?

That might not be the case if NISA is willing to localize games they haven't localized yet. Sure they might not do a port + extra stuff of Sakura Taisen V, but they might do something for the first game because no one has seen it stateside yet (unless they've imported). But who really knows with these things? ;_;

Honestly, I'm just doing a lot of wishful thinking in terms of this series anyway. le sigh. ;_;

Update: Siliconera is holding back the interview for maybe another week, and with it, knowledge of our hopes and dreams. </3

A few months ago, NIS America released Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love on PlayStation 2 and Wii. How did that do? Did it exceed, perform to or was it not as good as your expectations?

Not as good as our expectations.

UGH

Uh-oh. What’s the fate of Sakura Wars in North America then? I see a lot of my readers are hoping for Sakura 1+2 for PSP.

Another publisher tried to get approval from Sony for Sakura Wars 1+2 for PSP, but it was rejected. Once a title is rejected by SCEA there is almost no chance to release the title.

What about as a digital download?

That’s Sony’s decision. Sony said this is not a game. They said it’s a text novel. They judged it as that, so it’s really difficult to get the license again. It’s also tough to localize Sakura Wars because of the huge amount of text. It took more than two years to complete the localization. That’s more than the development time of the Japanese version.

DOUBLE UGH
