I am a proud German Disgaea fan and did tell a few people about the game, i tend to keep it short. The posibile ways to improve your strength are too complicated as a whole for new people to understand, unless they ask about it i tend to just say stuff like "you can level your weapon, improve your cracters, maximum level is 9999 with like 200.000 stored" n such..
I tryed to convince a good friend of mine but he prefers games with a open world and he does not like solid colour art, so sadly it ain't his kind of game.

Uh...you guys are getting kinda creepy. I mean, I know you guys are kidding about the whole cult thing and stuff, but honestly, some types of games just aren't that popular to the general audience in general. These games seem to be kinda made for a niche audience, you know.

I don't really mind the lack of IRL NIS fans where I live, cause internet people are fine enough for me.

I personally don't like it all that much b/c of the 4th wall humor, sadistic nature of the jokes and the juvenile boob jokes...I mean how is talking about how they want to be a level 9999 main character supposed to be funny?

Well, the latter's self-aware humour, but like all comedy, is very dependent on the type of person with regards to whether they will find it funny or not.
I also wouldn't have said many of the jokes are sadistic.

Hyperdimension Neptunia is DEFINITELY not your game, then...

I love the 4th wall breaking and off-beat humor. It's half the fun of Disgaea!

Though I am also a Christian, sign me up for the cult!

The fact that they want to be level 9999 is definately a joke along the sadistic line, at least they're not asking for 186,000 stored levels, 300% apps and their previous reincarnation to have had 67+ base stats... (Shudder)
(The mension of the latter part of the above comment is probably about the point that attempts at conversion of our fellows falls on its face )

As for the fourth wall breaking, it's where the series gets part of its charm, along with the whole "barely evil" thing and the resident non-demons slow acceptance of the messed up thought processes everywhere. And as for the jouvinile boob-jokes... well, Most of the characters ARE supposed to be about 13-16, give or take a thousand or so arbitrary years.

Sadistic jokes? I prolly never would've used that adjective towards any of the Disgaea characters I can think of.

And the boob jokes usually come from the people without boobs. And I find it very realistic that Etna is upset about it because usually older women without melons are somewhat sad they don't meet the busty-ness of women 30 years younger than them.

I hate not knowing anybody who knows disgaea. I live in the middle of nowhere and everyone here is a redneck and they only like shooting games and hunting games. bleh
