By submitting my resume to every gaming company in southern California every three months since my junior year of college. No joke.
I was specifically wondering how relevant a degree in Translation Studies is, compared to just having demonstrable mastery over the language or having, say, a N1 Certificate of Proficiency.
I can't speak as to the Translation Studies degree, although that does sound like a winner. And knowing Japanese is a huge plus, but not a requirement. I myself speak and understand only elementary Japanese.
There are lots of Japanese-American companies around, especially on the west coast. Keep an eye out for all potential opportunities, and remember to always follow up when you get a bite!
