alt endings whats the point?

yesterday my entourage was strong enough to beat Laharl Ch.1 Version and Etna Ch.3

do you actually get anything from beating them besides a "game over"?

because it doesnt seem any point to bother, i mean if you got a special item or unlocked somthing yes... but zippo?

Winning those fights messes up the sequence of events, which is why it forces you to start a new cycle, as you just sent the plot train flying off the rails. Thus you can't really continue with the story.

im not moaning about the forced restart i was just wondering if there was a point to doing them as you cant get anything or unlock anything new.. i mean if you beat Ch.1 Larharl if it unlocked a class or you got a rare item.. then yes.. I can also understand losing to etna as its story thing, but Ch.1 Laharl or even mid-boss nothing?

PS2.. cant use a PSP sadly as it hurts my hands if i use it for even short periods... dont ask -.-

i dont believe theres a real point on the ps2 except to see the scenes that happen lol.
