All the social games! Gust, what are you doing to my heart, huh? I can't say this was unexpected.

And I now laugh at everyone that said this Koei thing wouldn't affect them at all...but it is a sad and hollow laughter -_-

I don't see why people think social games are a gushing gold mine or anything.
They're certainly past their prime. :|

They make more in Japan, since smartphones aren't as popular there.

Goddammit. Gust, you should have let yourselves alone. You were so much better before you let yourself become Koei's slave.

Well, I'm guessing they'll have their time there as well...

Actually, was this even developed by Gust? It doesn't appear on their site; it seems quite possible it was developed by GREE themselves, and Gust/Koei simply licensed the Salburg IP (ala the Atelier Elkrone Otomate game).

Not only that, but this actually sounds a bit more like a nonmassive MMO than something like Farmville, what with being able to (presumably) party with friends when taking trips outside of Salburg and whatnot. I mean, it might end up being really awful, but it doesn't look like something that'd give me hives just yet.

The real question is, will we ever see this outside of Japan? Not too likely. (GREE is getting a NA office geared up, though.)

Also, you guys realize that GREE is more of a platform than anything, right? It can run on iPhones and stuff; there's nothing saying the game has to be super-limited technically.

Also long it is localized I will play it. There is already a knock off on the iPhone called "Adventure Bar Story" that, if the message boards on gamefaqs can be used as a measuring tool, is really popular. While the game is in no way nearly as good as the worst Atelier title it is still kind of solid. Anything in the "time management/item creation" genre is a must play for me.
http://varms.net it's super cool.
