Shooter Mode bug/annoyance

Hi, I really enjoy this wiiware title but there is something occurring in Shooter Mode that has me a little annoyed. Occasionally when I get a power up and am shooting pills in all directions like crazy, I still die! It seems like viruses are popping up underneath me at unfortunate times right in the dead zone where the pills are coming out. This keeps me from being able to run around the screen like a DNA with its protein strands untwined, because even though I have the power up I will still die through no fault of my own!

Is this a bug or is this intended? I would love to see this resolved if at all possible, shooter mode is my favorite mode by far but this bug has been consistently getting me killed when I could have gone much much further!
