I think the "problem" with Seraph is that it is extremely unoriginal. It hemorrhages tropes. On top of having a main cast that is largely unexciting (aside from Shinoa Best Girl), the show appears to have nothing going for it, which, given the Internet's tendency to blow things out of proportion, becomes "this show is shit." What it does do well is execution. It's got decent pacing (slow start, but picks up quickly around episode 4ish?), solid animation, it plays its cards well, and it has bonus amazing backgrounds.
