To that I say "Pshaw"

Ichigo doesn't have any formal training and can't use spells, but he's randomly really good at fighting with a sword out of nowhere. He spends 5 days sparring and is able to beat up an entire army of formally trained soldiers, including many of their elite. He spends 3 more days training and is able to reach a level that only the most powerful shinigami can reach after how many hundred years and can tie, if not best, the most powerful warrior in Soul Society. He learns to control his Hollow powers and can beat most of the Espada. Then he spends a couple months training and surpasses Aizen, a guy who is either the most powerful or one of the most powerful characters EVER, and has been honing his skills for how many hundreds of years past the limits of regular shinigami. Don't forget that he levels up
in the middle of fighting other characters for no apparent reason other than Tite Kubo wants him to. The only time he ever loses a fight is because Kubo realizes, crap, my story makes no sense unless he loses here. I
guess I better make him lose...
I actually love Bleach, I think it's fun to read, while not a literary masterpiece, but it's like, way beyond the threshold of "suspension of belief" at this point. It's not DBZ power escalation bad, but Ichigo just has no real, actual, faults or weaknesses. He's Achilles/Brad Pitt in
Troy. Kubo's the master at hiding the fact that his character is basically God. But, Kubo does know how to make things ridiculously cool, and his imagination for special powers is something else.
