How did I forget about this adaptation! If it wasn't already #1 on my list for this year, this immediately puts it there :D

Kirito looks a lot lamer in that trailer than he does in the manga >.>

A series where the protagonist has an actual relationship? An awesome fantasy video game world where the problems of games actually matter for the protagonists?

Ah, HECK YEAH.

Yeah, this series is pretty rocking overall.

Spoiler:
No hackers in Aincrad. For one, nobody can exit to go program something.

Fan gasm'd.

Spoiler:
The first episode was simply superb; it was everything I expected, and more.

I truly have no complaints. Everything was of the highest quality; the OST was phenomenal, the animation was amazing, the landscapes are as stunning as I had imagined them to be while reading the light novels, and of course, Kirito is as awesome as I had made him out to be in my head.

That wouldn't necessarily stop them though.

But, since the L/N's are already out and stuff, I guess they didn't want to deal with that at all. Ah well.
Spoiler:
People use stuff besides swords...right? Seems like it'd be pretty boring if everyone used the same weapon.

Spoiler:
Weapons like axes, spears, etc. are present within Aincrad. Far as I remember, no magic. I think weapons *can* be thrown, but must people don't, usually. There's also a variety of weapons, so there's rapiers, broadswords, etc.

Mind you, this is something of a plot point within the series. Aincrad has no "magic" skills, no 100% Accurate attacks, and so on. It's suggested that this was very intentional on the part of the game's creator, sort of a way to balance out the fact that death is permanent. Skill is very useful in Aincrad.

Okay, I already figured the
Spoiler:
no magic part. I was just a bit worried since everyone shown so far have been sword users. And the girl seems to use a sword as well.
I prefer variety, so it would have been really bland if everyone used a sword. Plus, I can't see how a game like that would even attract that much attention. But, thankfully that's not the case. I look forward to the other party members then!

Well,

Spoiler:
Aincrad is the *first* total-immersion MMO. Lots and lots of interested gamers wanted in. A good number of people playing are pretty hardcore gamers; the rest are those who sorta got lucky and managed to nab a copy.

Asuna uses a rapier. She's more a 'piercing' type, while Kirito's a 'slashing' type. Mostly. There are differences, and other weapons will probably be seen later on. Remember, this is just the start of the game, and it wouldn't be weird for a basic sword to be the starting weapon.

And if they go on to Alfheim in the anime, expect to see the variety of attacks increase sharply. XD

Good thing I dropped reading Sword Arts Online for this, now I can watch the anime and enjoy it to the fullest.
Spoiler:
Though I'm disappointed Klein didn't stick around with Kirito, a partnership between soon-to-be best friends would have been interesting, now it's going to be a typical boy-girl pairing.
