You might as well just start on episode 8, you know what happens in the first 7 if you follow the manga (it's quite faithful, which is good!).

It changed because the series couldn't sustain itself the way it was going. IIRC, it was either change or get cancelled. The author was bitter and part of what makes the series great is how he kinda lashes back at JUMP and shounen action series in general as it goes on.

...Or so I'm told. Anime only for me.

The thing is most people don't realize (or care to analyze) that Isin is metagaming shounen-style battles in Medaka Box :X The fights are more about everything *except* the fights, it's pretty slick. Some of the fight mechanics were neat, but overall, for me, it was much more interesting to see the analysis behind the characters, the story/situation, and the side commentary than the actual fights themselves. And that's how most of the battles are, too, aside from the fact that half of them don't actually make any real sense, lol, which is just more parody without being an obvious parody.

Exactly, you pretty much have to see passed the fighting itself to get full enjoyment out of it I think...
