Misc info that is really helpful to know

Postby vampko » Mon Nov 08, 2010 8:30 am

i just beat Taiga, and it said I unlocked a costume, but I have no clue how to access the costumes at all! There's no facility that does it, and I've looked all over the base for it. But, no go. The menu doesn't do anything either. Can anyone help me out here?

Nvm, apparently you need to

rapidly talk to the prinny at the base. It's quite annoying and pretty much impossible to pull off without a guide of some sort. It helps to have it messages on 'cheetah' speed.

This was a plea for help on my part originally, but I figured why not make a tipz section for this game like I did Rorona.

One lesson I just learned, Prinny Hat = explode just like a Prinny when thrown xD. It probably will apply to all sets of Prinny equipment, so be wary of prinny equipment, especially when you're around the throwing guys.

Something else I've learned : Some equipment you can eat, which can give you a pretty nice boost to your hunger percantage. And when you're really in trouble, nearly all consumables give you a boost to your hunger percentage, although they are much smaller than actual food. I survived a dungeon by eating pills and various stuff like antidotes one time when I couldn't find any food, for a good 5 floors.

The facility to change costumes is called COSPATIO, and is unlocked after you unlock a costume and leave another dungeon (I think you could actually leave immediately after floor one?)... I wandered aimlessly for a while until I just decided to go do some more training... Then once I left training, "Unlocked COSPATIO"... That's just how it worked out for me, though...

But only the Prinny hat has the explosion Skill (out of the two prinny pieces I've seen), and you can get rid of the skill by synthesizing it with another hat (using prinny hat as base) and not keeping the exploding skill - so you can have the awesome hat without consequence >.<

Appetite engine = great to synth with other items, to keep the "No Pain, No Gain" skill while not having a carrot in your face, even though the carrots are pretty cool...

Weird. And I have yet to play with synthesis. Every time I try and do it, it always says I have no other items to synthesize it with. I will try it out some more.

Don't forget that after selecting the first item, you can switch to your pouch or the storages by pressing L and R

Oh, found out that the way you listed above is
Spoiler:
a code to unlock all three Disgaea 1 costumes and the COSPATIO, therefore the reason for why it's so hard to do and pretty much requires a guide...
whereas the normal way is to
Spoiler:
go all the way to the bottom of the mastery caves and defeat the corresponding characters for their costumes

So that's how people were playing as Flonne pretty much as soon as ZHP was released... And I've been doing it the hard way... So far I've only gotten Flonne... I could probably set the difficulty down to zero and go for the second Mastery cave...

EDIT:
Aaaand, what Crazy said is true. I like to keep loads of items in storage then turn them all into one really good piece of equipment. So it's good to keep in mind that you can synthesize equipped or pouch items with those in storage. But only pouch and equipped items can be synthed on missions, as storage can't be accessed when you're in dungeons.

Well, it's annoying, because I went full through the Taiga dungeon, it said I 'acquired the costume for Taiga', but I couldn't do anything about it. Apparently going into another dungeon and leaving would have unlocked it, but I didn't know that, so I searched online, and I found that code (which I thought was the only way to unlock it), NIS needs to be more explanatory about stuff like this. That, and they should have just programmed it so you got Cospatio after you finished one of the dungeons, and not making you think there was no way to use the costume you just worked hard for... :|

you can then Feed the Powered up flow into a booster device, Boosting the power up even more.
i have 6 power flows all going in to one flow and right in to my S Container giving me 18 pouch items space :)

Think, La Pucelle, because the system on this game is VERY reminiscent of La Pucelle.

Also, the boosts you get are not from the spaces you drop the booster devices on, but the spaces AROUND the booster device. I might be wrong, but I did a lot of testing to confirm this, and all my tests pointed towards this result.

And you don't need spoiler tags on game mechanics, that's mostly just for story/plot reveals.

I don't get it, I've talked to that stupid Prinny in the base so many times and as fast as humanly possible but with no results. Do you need to be at a certain point in the game for it to work?

That's a cheat, but you also want to make sure your messages are set to 'cheetah', and pressing circle helps.

The fact that while using the Boogiepop costume, you are only allowed to equip headwear depresses me immensely. As such, using the costume is a handicap I impose upon myself...

As for helpful information, for grinding sake, there is a silk hat/zombie/mirror trick. There is a zombie enemy (cinder) which when killed becomes a pile of bones that revives after 15 turns. The mirror is a random stage feature (prominent in mastery dungeon) which clones enemies directly in front of it. Silk hat is an equipment which gives 1 EN per kill. The trick is to clone enough zombies such that one will revive every turn; therefore you can kill them indefinitely while the silk hat restores your EN.

using a wolf hat is also useful if you're running low on EN.
It gives you the ability to eat certain equipment like hats and weapons to restore EN. doesn't work on all equipment though.

Thanks for making clear what the mirror is for. I've only encountered mirrors in enemyless places. I tried throwing items in it or going in it myself xD
Also some whirlpool trap, which i have only encountered once so far. I threw items in it and they get sucked in. Nothing happens though (thought it was some wishing well or something >.>). So those are only useful for throwing in enemies?

What does the + do with synthed items? When I try to synth it gives my items 1% more CON and i get to choose the skills/abilities and it becomes +1. what exactly is plussed? Or is it just a number to show how many times it's been synthed?...

On the Well. Throwing items in occasionally launches another item back out. It can also be used to Kill foes but most of the time it just rejects them... I've launched myself in once (I've been wondering what could happen...) but it just spat me back out... It might do other things (to the main character) but I'm not yet sure...

On the "+"s in synths... You got it pretty much correct, it's just a tally... But if you then synth the item with the pluses into something else, that "+1" will grant double (x2) the amount of CON (x3 for "+2", x4 for "+3, etc.)... +1 is like saying, "that item and one more of it will be synthed into the base item". This will also set the base item to +2 as two items were synthed into the base.
Note: CON bonuses increase by the rank of the item being synthed (Rank 2 items grant +2%, and Rank 3 items grant +3%)...

I've actually been using a nice 3 step strategy to get my Rank 1 items greater CON bonuses... (Good for raising the CON of Dengeki items)
First, leave your base item (the one you want to be wearing) on the side and don't touch it in the second step.
Second, Pick your highest ranked item and use it as a base while synthing every item into it as possible (excluding the one you want to be wearing)
Third, Use the item excluded in the first step as a base and synth in the high ranked, high "+" Item that was created in Step 3...

The only problem is the amount of WP it costs x.x

And to the first bit, The Wolf Hat has an ability called "Organic Food" which allows consumption of any item in your inventory that's organic... This conveniently has an Inverse ability called "Inorganic Food" which allows consumption of anything the other can't, the ability is found on the Skull Mask head item...

Hope that helps...

Here's something.
"Concerning the spelling of Holo's name, Yen Press has stated that they 'were instructed that the proper spelling of the character's name is indeed Holo' by the Japanese licensor."
That's on Wikipedia.
But it's not like I needed to read that. It's in second season. How do you screw up and write Horo?!

As far as I know, Index is the best costume stat-wise because it boosts Fire, Ice, and Wind by 50%.

By the way, I hacked and made a max stat Unlosing Cape. Makes life easy.
