Some voice acting parts not working?

Postby Bronyforlife » Tue Feb 22, 2011 12:57 am

I just started playing HN a day or two ago and it was working perfectly. However, I'm reaching certain Events where the dialogue isn't being played and the characters' mouths aren't even moving. Even when I push Triangle and try hitting X to play the voices, nothing is being played. The game is still perfectly playable, but I found the voice acting to be highly enjoyable and this is bothering me.

Well some scenes are not voiced to begin with, but i've never really payed attention if those scenes don't have mouth movement when playing my Japanese copy.

Exactly. There were unvoiced scenes in the JP version. Everything (except 5PB's radio) is voiced that was voiced in the JP version. The 'not moving mouths' may indicate that the characters are thinking and are not actually conversing.

The unvoiced scenes in the Japanese versions had character portraits that didn't move their mouth as well.

So basically if there's voice work and their mouth aren't moving then the scene wasn't voiced even in the Japanese version either.

The English version of the game only matches the voice work of the Japanese version and doesn't improve on it. There are very few scenes that weren't voiced so it shouldn't be a problem.

Let me explain (lordryo triggered something which made me realize the problem), IF/Compile Heart have a special program for their lip syncing. It auto-moves to the dialogue that is spoken. So, if there's no spoken dialogue, it won't move naturally. But, it's a very neat thing, because it also is compatible with English, so, there's not the complaint of the lip-sync being off. Plus, they don't have to even try to make the lip sync synced. It's quite nice. Sorry I didn't realize it sooner.

I think you're talking about the "skits", BronyForLife? Kind of like in some Tales games where there are just random scenes that don't advance the plot but the characters are still doing stuff.

yeah so far iv ran into a few of the unvoiced events, they are just more or less little side events that have no impact on the story, hence why they are not voiced.

I actually noticed one unvoiced line in a voiced sequence, but that's it. XD;

I was hoping someone noticed what I did. I've seen 2 buggy seeming VA scenes so far.
The first is when turquoise is giving a bow piece to the party, one part had him write one thing in the dialogue, but had jade voice something completely different.

Another one I'm less sure about. It was a few days back and I don't recall the details. But it was either noire or black heart. She was talking but the VA sounded rather messed up. I mean it sounded like neptune's voice sometimes, when it was noire talking, yet neptune's voice matched moored text fine. But the actual point of what was said sometimes made sense if it really WAS Neptune saying it.

Me too. It was somthing Compa said. The first line was voiced and the second line wasn't.
