Did this make anyone else sad?

I did not enjoy the BGM for anything: events, dungeons, battles, land masses EVERYTHING!

None of these songs inspire me to go listen to them on Youtube like most video games I play do. Some of them even made me turn the volume down a little because it sounded kinda...bad.

I think the worst I heard so far was the battle music against
Spoiler:
Lady White Heart
and that saddens me because she is played by Wendee Lee!

Do I stand alone?

The music in HDN was quite lackluster, but from what I hear MK2 really improves on that.

Nah, you definitely aren't alone. But the characters were just so lovely that I just kept playing~

mk2's music definitely is a lot better though, and you have some really nice battle themes, so, look forward to it~!

I agree that the music was average for the most part but, not liking White Hearts Battle Theme?

What the hell that was one the best tracks in HDN.

I only liked White Heart's battle theme and I kind of liked Black Heart's battle theme. I also liked the snowy forest dungeon music.

Yeah, the music for the first game was meh. The music for mk2 is on a whole new level though.

I like the first game's music because there are so many different versions, lol.

Yeah, I definitely enjoy the characters too. I love IF, Nisa, and the Goddesses (minus Neptune unless she's in her CPU form. Then she's tolerable.) Everyone else I would not want to be stuck with in a room for twenty seven hours.

Hers is okay. I'll prolly get hate for it, but I did not enjoy the jazzy-ness of it. Maybe if her character had jazzy-ness to it, but she didn't. With her large breasts and her always tiredness from staying up playing games she seemed the most logical and mature to me. Of course I haven't played through the whole game so idk yet. Sorry, I'm rambling. But the beginning of the song starts out kinda dangerously like, "Oh my God her music sounds scary so she might be tough." Then the jazzy-ness comes and you're like, "Oh nevermind." It doesn't sound bad, but I feel it counters the intense-ness of the other part of the song and it definitely overshadows it.

I didn't like hers because it just seemed too old to be in this game. Even the 8-Bit songs in the beginning dungeon felt more modern. Plus it made me think of a mouse getting chased by a cat. Lady White Heart is one of my favorite characters if not my favorite and I feel the song just didn't do her justice like it should have.

Pfffft...

But yeah, I'm a pretty big audiophile and the soundtrack for this game was several levels of disappointing. It does that thing where a lot of the tracks have the same recurring riff (like Brawl and Mother 3 did), it's not awful I guess, but everything else is very bland. I liked the main villain's theme and that was about it.

I didn't like most of the music in HDN either, but I did like a couple of the boss battle themes, although i cant remember exactly which ones. I'm glad to hear mk2 has better music (:

Music I've liked in the game:

- The opening theme, which is better than Mk-2's
- Green Heart battle theme
- Arfoire theme and battle theme
- Leanbox world map and dungeon
- Lastation world map
- Planeptune battle theme (well, I liked it more the very first time I heard it and when I was playing with combos)
- Planeptune futuristic ship-like dungeon

Hopefully the list will be bigger in Mk-2's.

I tried to destroy my Mk2 BGM because Akiko Shikata or Kajiura Yuki did not compose it, but I listened to it, and I said "It's not that bad..."

The only HD1 tracks I seem to recall liking were the world map themes for Planetune and Lastation. There may have been more but I haven't played in awhile.

None of them really made me wow though, and I got absolutely sick out of that stupid cave-spelunking-song thing that was remixed like 50 times depending on the dungeon you were in. I call it cave song because IIRC the first time you hear it was when you're exploring the cave dungeon where you meet Iffy.

How do you guys not like the HDN music? Granted it's not Nier-level quality music, but it's still fairly enjoyable compared to other game music out there... :?
