DVD problems?

Postby kenshin-dono » Sat Apr 02, 2011 4:29 pm

So im having a problem with my Working!! box set. The main one being that the subs seem to be cut off near the bottom of the screen a bit. I.e. the very bottoms of y's or p's, or ,'s get snipped a bit. The subs seem abnormally large too. I guess i could take a pic if someone wants to see what im talking about. I dont think its overscan or anything. I could live with that though, i dont mind subs low on the screen like that. The other problems are worse though.

By episode 03 at the 17:25 mark the video brightness drops quite a bit. Id say it would be like doping the backlight level on a TV down several notches. I actually thought the bulb on my TV just died a bit or something actually =P I rewound and played it several times and it did it at the same spot every time. So i popped it into my PS3.. only to watch the audio and video pause and skip randomly o_O I took it out and put it back in and it seemed to play better, but still had the same brightness drop at the same time. Strangely enough the subs were NOT cut off on the PS3. Im guessing it may be some interlacing issue since the original DVD player i was using outputs at 480i (Reciever/TV upscale)

does anyone else have the strange picture darkening at that time? Or the subs looking all weird like that? I was also very concerned about the skipping and stuttering i got when i first put it in the PS3. Im not sure what to do, if i should just exchange the whole thing or what. I wanted to check with other people who picked it up. I did some searching and see a thread over on mania about several people having issues with it skipping and stuttering... not really sure what the deal is here. I havent watched any more really untill i find out what the deal is

I am having problems with playback. So far there have been two instances within the first five episodes where the DVD skips. I inspected my disc and while there are no scratches, it looks like there are waves going around in the middle of the disc, as if it was warped. I plan to try it in another DVD player, however I expect the same result.

NIS might need to find a new disc authoring service.
