Crashes after 6 hours, corrupts hard drive

Postby Nauto » Mon Mar 12, 2012 2:40 pm

Bought this game recently, last month from Gamestop. Really like it, the only problem is every 6 hours of play the game crashes, which can be avoided if I restart the game. The bigger problem is it corrupts my hard drive so the resulting crashes are occurring earlier and earlier. I had to low level format and reformat twice to confirm but as of the current PS3 firmware, it crashes and slowly corrupts the HD to the point where I can't fix it from the Safe Menu, requiring me to pull the HD for a low level format so it doesn't keep corrupting.

Anybody else have this problem? It's the only game installed when it does happen, thankfully PS Plus had my saves on the cloud or I'd be really upset.

If it's what I think it is, then you don't really need to worry. Everytime the PS3 is improperly shut down, it does this Corruption checking when you turn your PS3 back on. It usually lasts about 5 minutes and then goes back to normal.

If it was an actual corruption, you wouldn't even be able to use your save data on the game at all except for what's already saved onto your Cloud.

If that's what it was, I wouldn't worry. I've had similar crashes with Mass Effect 2 & 3 recently that give me no issues. I'm just going to play this on my spare hard drive, I'm thinking the Sony Firmware update broke something install data/patch. It's just frustrating to get 30 or so hours in, crashing every 6 hours(solvable by quitting the game at a point earlier than 6 hours) and if I keep crashing, the crashes eventually creep up in speed, the last one I found intolerable at being just 2 hours in game and it affects every other game I play by crashing my PS3 randomly.

Since putting this game aside I've only experienced minor crashes in ME 2 and 3, no where near the amount I was having on a daily basis(sometimes twice in a day) when I started playing ATQ.
