Overrated: the Grand Theft Auto series
Don't get me wrong, they're very good games, and I had a blast playing them, especially Vice City and San Andreas, but every time one comes out it seems reviewers trip over themselves to proclaim it a revolution in gaming when it's really been pretty much the same game since 2001 with changes to when and where the setting occurs, which wouldn't be a problem if not for the fact the games get really, really repetitive after a while. I can only take so many missions of "drive to this place and kill this dude, then come back and tell me you did it." And this is coming from someone who enjoys WoW. At least in WoW you get exp or phat lewt. In GTA you get more money you can't use b/c you already bought everything. They're good, but not the apparent godsend they get reviewed as.

Underrated: the NHL
Full disclosure: I'm from a part of the country which loves its hockey, so I'm inherently biased. The whole lockout back in 2004-05, plus having the Stanley Cup won in consecutive years by teams from Tampa, Charlotte, and Anaheim, didn't do the league any favorts, but it is a blast to watch now. There is a huge influx of great young talent from guys like Crosby and Ovechkin, the shootout rule eliminates ties and adds an element of unpredictability, as well as the fact you still have the best in the world doing their thing on a nightly basis on the ice makes it a lot of fun to watch. The pacing also blows away the NBA. I hope hockey can eventually expand beyond its niche appeal, but if it doesn't, it'll be extremely underrated among the general populace.

I've never been a fan of the series, but the satirical stories more than make up for the repetition/monotony/regurgitated gameplay the series is known for.

Oh, the stories are pretty funny. But there's only so many times that humor, for example, in GTA IV, made me forget Roman called me about every five minutes to go bowling. That man was a regular Walter Sobchak.

A few humorous stories doesn't make for a good to me. I played and liked Vice City, but even then it was only mildly entertaining for me. Plus every GTA seem to be identical to the last, city maps aside.

I guess I just have a higher tolerance for super-repetitive missions. And to be fair, there are some really fun ones thrown in which switch things up a bit. However, the games get to the point where you've had so many missions, even the humor can't mask the fact you're getting burned out. That was my problem with San Andreas. The game went on too long. Having a huge world is great if you always have something new to do in it, and by the end of San Andreas, it felt like there was nothing left to do that was worth it. It was just subpar pacing. Vice City was way better in that regard. They're good because I was interested enough to play for quite a while. They're overrated because I really had to push myself to finish them.

Overrated: Their Eyes Were Watching God. I extremely dislike this book. It is the worst book I've ever been assigned to read in my school years.
Underrated: History. I personally find history to be interesting, even the history course I have this year. Most of my friends don't though. They think it's boring.

Perhaps one of the reasons that you seem to like Musou-type games is due to the rich historical content. With regard to those periods of time, my Chinese/Japanese historical knowledge is mostly based upon Shin Sangoku Musou and Sengoku Musou respectively.

good point, i know mccain would have been no better, so i guess we are stuck with him... but what politician is good? lol

Overrated : Income tax(only slightly i find it abit annoying that i have to pay income tax cause i've made over $400 in a year.... stupid. other then that income tax is very very useful)

I can't remember the exact amount, but I believe if you earn under ~$12,000 a year then you get all the money you filed back

Underrated: Them Crooked Vultures, I haven't heard any of their music on the radio....
