A Miller is a townie who appears Mafia to the cop. Some variations make it so the Miller flips Mafia upon death, though that's kind of seen as a bush league move on the GM's part.

A Jester is a nonaligned role which wins when he/she is lynched. This obviously causes problems as the Jester is trying to get lynched, which draws attention away from the Mafia. Also, it can effectively end the game on D1 and leave everyone else playing for second place.

It doesn't end the game...

If the Jester gets lynched, they win. The ultimate goal (to determine a winner) is accomplished. Most of the time, yeah, the game continues, but everyone is playing for second at that point. The game may continue, but it's effectively over. The Jester won.

Even if you have rules which say that you can have co-winners in the event of a Jester lynch, it's not the same as winning outright. Plus, in some small games (which this would likely qualify as), the game may end at the Jester lynch.

I guess you could say that. I wonder if there will be a game with such a role, that could be entretaining.

I am always suspicious to you, Xeras; that is a constant in the game of Mafia.

I am slightly dismayed that you usurped my Archivist tasks; nevertheless, I will permit this for now.

Incidentally, even though no votes have been made since, here is Xeras' latest tally.

DarkClaymore - 1 (Vampko)
Vampko - 1 (Xeras)
Aphrah - 1 (Ubiquitor)
Lopez - 1 (Aphrah)
Xeras - 1 (JerichoDeath)
DisgaeaBlitz - 1 (DarkClaymore)

Voter's name leads to the voting post.

Necrofantasia wrote:He could be a Miller. You know, that role that totally fits in with the Simplicity Mafia theme. Actually, SJ did say before he was going to do a bastard game and part of that is sometimes the GM's lying. Maybe the game is super-complicated and we're just behind a Mafia veil of ignorance.

Or Claymore could be a Jester. I don't know anyone who could do that role better than him, though it is a role generally frowned upon because it kind of breaks the game.

Or Claymore could just be Claymore.

He does seem to be trying a little too hard this time though.

@Xeras: Are you serious about claiming Jack of all trades? I find that a little hard to believe, since this game was advertised as 'simplicity' mafia.

Maybe the 'simplicity' is actually a veil to hide the truth, in that we're playing the role crazy game?

Though, after night 1 is over we should probably know for sure, possibly, whether this really IS simplicity mafia

I have the proof it is. I got a vanilla. If it were more complex, there at least would be a mason. And if there's a mason - it must be me Image

That's like saying that Shiz is mafia because he's been mafia in every single game but one. Probability doesn't work that way.

You know what? You're right. And as I won't be around Friday, I might as well get a vote out there now.

It's D1, so we're taking shots in the dark. But there's one thing I know for sure: I want this game to be fun. And you know what's not fun? Reading page after page of doggerel masquerading as posts.

VOTE: Darkclaymore

Claymore has freely admitted he's not using logic this time around, yet he's trying to run point for the town. This seems like a terrible, terrible combination. The chaos strategy doesn't really jive with trying to be the leader. Plus without PMs, it's a lot harder to get people to slip up by bombarding them with PMs until they respond. Now you just have to bombard the topic and hope people don't try to reach through their computers and choke you. Plus Xeras kind of has the controlle frenzy thing down pat.

Claymore, I don't know if you're Mafia and quite frankly, I don't care. I just know that your particular brand of randomness could eventually be a detriment to the town if anyone ever has a concerted plan to find the Mafia. You are a permanent wrench in the works. You are that witness who strikes fear into your heart when he goes on the stand as you have no idea what he will say. Moreso than previous games, this topic needs to be an orderly environment and you are the antithesis of order.

It is so fucking ordered.
