"A god, huh?" Roxanne inquired. "I've never believed in that stuff. Seems pretty far-fetched. There's only survival, in my opinion. More people dead means I'm more likely to survive. But I guess if that's you got to look like that then how else can you explain it, really, unless your father was a cat, but I won't go there."

She sized Lillith up for a moment.

So she spent all these years believing that Glenn had wronged her, and killed him for that, she thought. She definitely did suffer. Damn. To go through all that ridicule your whole life, and she can't be older than sixteen.

"If killing him and getting revenge is all you wanted, then why does it look like you feel really guilty about it?" she asked.

vampko wrote:"My name is Lillith. I was born in a place that is probably destroyed or something. I grew up knowing Gl-big brother. He used to always play with me and..." She relayed the entire story to everyone, leaving out the part that explained about her ability to move through shadows, "and then...I screwed up...." Her face went downcast as she made it to the point of her assassination of Glenn. The bonds are loose enough, so, if I have to, I'll definitely escape...

A blade was pressed against her throat, as he focused his hateful glare onto her this time, as he said, "Don't you dare" he pressed the blade a bit harder, "To even try".

"Here," she handed Roxanne the letter.

After searching the area with the well for some time, Sophie failed to find anything of relevance.
"... if they're here... they're even better at hiding than before..."
Or my skills have rusted a bit from all the time I've spent as a slave...

Sophie frowned, and she started making her way deeper into the district, away from the well.
Maybe I will have better luck in the more dangerous areas...

Melissa was starting to grow impatient. "So? What does it say there, Roxanne?" she asked.

Roxanne's frown kept getting bigger as her eyes scanned the letter, and it eventually turned into a scowl.

"That bastard..." she muttered when she saw what Glenn had done over the years. She looked at Lillith and managed a grimace. She was absolutely torn at what to do with her.

Roxanne stared at her for what seemed like three minutes. Eventually, she said, "Let her go. She's not our enemy. She's just an ignorant brat who thought killing Glenn for revenge was her only option."

She walked up to Lillith and was so close to her face that she was practically breathing on her. "I'll let you live," she said. "But if you have any ideas to stab me in the back, I will put a bullet through your head before you even have time to raise your sword."

She backed off and waited for the others' thoughts on the situation.

Rudy let out a sigh, as he withdrew his daggers from the girl's space, as he retracted, and leaned back against the wall, "Well, now that we've apparently all gotten kosher in having this little assassin among us, isn't there an issue to be discussed?", he looked at him, no sign of his usual smile returning, as he asked, "Our location, apparently this little girl had the wits to uncover it, wouldn't that mean our location has been compromised?"

"Not necessarily," Gordon said. "She spent a lot of time tracking Harbeck and probably saw you lot jumping into the well. Knowing that she's apparently able to become one with the shadows, she could have easily slipped by you all and our guards undetected, waiting for the right moment to strike.

"That being said," he continued. "I would not want to kill her, personally. She could be a valuable asset to us. Reconnaissance, assassinations, the like. We could use her abilities."

"I've already given my opinion," Roxanne said glumly. "I say let her go."

"How about we hold it to a vote?" Gordon suggested. "We'll decide by method of democracy. Two votes already to let her live. Anyone else in favor of?"

-------------------------------------------------

Bartholomew got out of bed without a sound and immediately got dressed in new robes. He made his way back to the comm center and resumed his monitoring of Sophie. He quickly scanned through a video feed of her throughout the night just to see if she had moved at all. When it turned out she didn't, he returned to the present and observed where she was currently at.

"That area with the well sure does interest her, doesn't it?" he muttered to himself. "Probably nothing important, knowing her level of stupidity. So where is she going now . . ."

He tapped his earpiece and spoke to Sophie on his one-way comm channel.

"Good morning, Sophie," he said. "I see you haven't found my dear niece yet. Time is running out. Pain awaits. Find her soon, or you will suffer."

"But doesn't that mean someone else could have similar abilities?" Lillith interjected with a worried look.

Lillith anxiously awaited the decisions of everyone, big brother...I know I screwed up bad, but I'm gonna try and make it up to you as best I can! I'll finish what you started! Now please, just convince them to give me a chance somehow! She thought as the stares of the others were on her.

"I have nothing this girl, so I am willing to her live. I would be no better than her if I voted for her death, anyway." Melissa sighed, tired. It was enough stress for just one morning.

Rudy glanced at the girl, and gritted his teeth, clenching his hand as he looked away, and said, "Let her live, I don't care."

"All right, Lillith, you're a lucky one," Gordon said. "That's already enough votes. You're one of us, now."

He headed over to the console and input a command that released Lillith's shackles, but increased the intensity of the the room's light to ensure she doesn't attempt escape.

"God damn it, sarge," Roxanne complained. "Does it have to be so bright?"

"Yes, it does, so shut up," he replied.

Rudy sighed, as he brought down the brim of his hat. "If we're finished here, I'll be taking my leave" he said, as he proceeded to leave the room.

Sophie flinched upon hearing Master's voice in her ear. Did he mean that he would hurt her? Or Joey? Sophie remembered Master talking about executing him if she failed. Sophie clenched her fist over her clothing.

Deciding to give the place with the well one more look before leaving, Sophie searched under the light of day, but she found nothing. If the rebels were here, they were well-hidden. Sophie placed her hands on the well's edges, looking down into the darkness in despair.
She didn't have any more leads. Was she just going to let Joey die like that? Sophie's body shook with tremors, and she tried to calm down.

What... what can I do...?
