BGM: Ship of Fools

"Welcome, new and old fags."
He said that as he examined every single participant who joined his game.
"A total of 13? Works fine for me."
He leaped from the building he was standing on, and onto the ground.
He landed smoothly like a cat. Many likely hoped he'd break a leg or two.
"I'm the Mod of this event, Orihara Izaya. But you probably already knew that.
It, as you heard, a game of Mafia. The Mafia this game will be, as you'd expect, your lovely Water Virus."
He pointed toward a random innocent loli.

"Huh?"
The crowd expressed confusion. Izaya's words and actions didn't seem to synchronize.
"Good eyes you got there, Izaya."

The loli was suddenly reduced into a puddle of water.
From it, slowly raised a figure. At first, it still retained its aqua nature, and looked like a human with a skin of water. But shortly, the figure regained color.

"It seems like the Mod this time around is sharper."
He wore the shape of Hinagiku. However, it was greatly altered and whoever wasn't familiar with the original enough - could easily miss the resemblance.

"It's because there are no Co-Mods to hold me back."
"A troll Mod without anyone to guarantee sanity? This gonna be a messed up game, that's for sure."
Izaya didn't comment on that. The two merely exchanged hostile stares.
"As your invitation described, the winners of this game will receive a prize."
"Huh? What invitation? I was just troll'd into play-"
"Said prize will be a Shard from the Core itself."
He directed their eyes upwards. There, they saw the Core.
Izaya smirked as he saw Shizuo was indeed absent from the area, just as he asked.
"The prize will be roughly of this size."
He took out a Core Shard-

A paper on which a Core Shard was drawn...
"A decent addition to the collection of any power hungry villain, or any self-righteous wannabe hero."
The crowd just listened. None of them wanted to miss even a single bit of the explanation.
They knew Izaya's nature. And that you can never know what's coming your way, when the guy's in charge.
"Last thing, before we begin. Yuuko, the stage is yours."
"Very well."

No one noticed her presence until now.
"With that grand of a prize, you all will have to pay a participation fee beforehand"
"Huh?"
"What's with that?"
The crowd expressed OBJECTION!
"Such is the rule of equality. If you want something - you have to pay an equal price in return. Thus, this rare one-of-a-kind opportunity alone requires a payment."
They had nothing to say. The explanation sounded convincing and they all, each with his own reason, wanted to participate in the game.
"It seems like objection ceased. Very well."

"Let me collect your payments then."
She took out a white stuffed animal toy.
As if thanks to some implemented function, the toy opened its mouth and began to absorb energy.
Each of the participants was affected. Each has lost a certain degree of the force that "defines" them.
"This should suffice."
Just as she said those words - the toy closed its mouth. Some began to wonder whatever it's really a toy, or some cute fluffy magical creature.

"Well then, I shall depart. I'll be watching the unfolding events of this game from afar, beside the Core."
She then walked away, without looking back.

"So let us begin then! Core, if you may."
Just as he said that, threads of energy erupted from the Core.
They were falling down like meteors, and were aimed at the players.
"Faker"
Izaya felt a dim shiver as he turned around to check who said that.

A shady figure was standing there, staring at him with a deep red eye.
Just when Izaya intended to question that - the threads of energy made contact.
All players were transformed into an identical form, similar to that of a "soul".

"... Anyway. Let the game begin!"
Day 1 begins now!
