For me character design and the art style are very important, then gameplay and then story. Anything else is nice but those are the make or break decision makers, for whether I'm interested in a game~ :)

Actually, nowadays its more of Story and Characters rather than gameplay.

However I'm one of those people that HATES dated and or bad graphics, if the game as a whole is good but the graphics are shit? Forget about it.

I haven't played any PS1 FF games because I couldn't get over the graphics being so... just.... yeah.

:o Wow, I know the graphics are fairly bad in the PSone FF games, but even with that, FF7 and FF8 are still easily in my top ten favorite RPG's of all time along with Chrono Trigger and Cross~

FF9 is also fantastic but I didn't like the character designs as much as I wish I did.

All I can say is you're missing out.

Graphics is more of a plus to me than a requirement.
i focus on a games STORY>GAMEPLAY>CHRACTERS
i mean, if the storys good enough then you can put the must dullest chracters in it and have it turn epic but i cant ply a game with a lame battle system,etc...^^

Not always, but graphics aren't everything that's for sure. I'd much rather play a fun game with terrible graphics than a boring game with pretty graphics.

People just don't like change in gameplay. I haven't played 13 yet, but I'm guessing I'll enjoy it.

People say the same kinds of stuff about FF12 being the worst FF ever, etc. When I'd consider it third best. It's mainly the fans from the SNES years of FF, that feel it's changed too much from it's roots, I think.

While I despise 12, it's not because of how much it's changed, it's purely because the game was just so darned boring to me. I can't stand MMO style combat systems. It's just not in myself.

I loved that it removed random battles, many of the characters were interesting, story was only topped by FF8 for me. Not to mention the game was huge, I spent 140 hours playing it and still had plenty of stuff left unfinished. The gambit system wasn't perfect but it was acceptable to me. I still had to play it as turn based for many of the optional boss battles.

FF12 wasn't perfect but I loved it~
