It's less I have problem with the change and more I have a problem with what was it was changed into. Also the hair colour thing still bugs me, not sure why.
Although it seems odd to change only one of the leader's designs...

Did they confirm that none of their looks would change? Because Skyla and Elesa were the youngest gym leaders NOT counting Iris...so I'd expect them to change more than Burgh and Clay for example

No they haven't I suppose, although it's strange they're dropping out a few of the gym leaders, but I have a sneaky suspicion they'll turn up, even if they're optional.
Besides, Lenora's replacement needs to be explained.

While thinking of gym leaders, wonder if they'll ever pull a typeless gym again? That was one of my favourite ones for being just wonderfully difficult as it's the truest test of your full team composition they can throw at you. I would've pegged Cheren as a candidate for that kind of thing, considering his background, but it seems not.

Anyways, yeah, the old gym leaders are bound to show up, though Lenora's could be explained as wanting to make her museum a full time thing

They also still have never had a Dark-type gym, for whatever reason, despite having over 4 generations to put one in. The only time it gets a look-in is with the Elite Four, although it has been in all but one of those to be fair.
