I have to admit, looking pretty good. My PS3 library is severely lacking...

As much as I would like to play Tales of Vesperia, I'm starting to doubt we'll get it here. Oh well, I'll just stick to Atelier Rorona then. Seriously I'm having this huge Atelier trip right now and this game cannot come out fast enough XD

I agree, Vesperia is looking like a long-shot. Namco should've announced it already.

From what I've heard Namco Bandai likes to announce stuff in March or somewhere around then, so ToV could still possibly make its way to the states on the PS3.

I got a PS3 back in October when I saw the upcoming games (namely Agarest War, Atelier Rorona, and Ar Tonelico 3). It's looking like the PS3 will be the haven of the niche RPG, although ports for localization may change that (as happened with Agarest War). I'm guessing that most big titles like Square Enix and Tri-Ace titles will eventually be multiplatform anyway, so it's the niche titles you need to look out for.

indeed, 2010 seems to be the year of the jrpg for the ps3 in NA.i'm pretty excited about it but like you guys, my wallet is not too excited

anyways, i already preordered white knight. i hope its good as they advertised.because quite frankly, i was excited about the game when i heard the announcement back in 2007 and saw the glorious trailer.but then after it got released(in japan)i got dissapointed because of the famitsuu review.but later on, i decided to give it ashot despite of what i read and also despite the fact that i hate georama...lets see how that goes huh :|
i also have my misgivings about star ocean international because some ppl claim that the game has bad voice acting and the gameplay can get irritating with 3 hour long dungeons without a save and so forth...

finally, i definatelly wont be getting FF13 despite of it rave reviews due to the fact that it feels less than an rpg and more like an adventure type of game...no lvling up,no stores to buy equipment only in saves spaces,no towns etc etc blah blah blah

but yes i'm pretty excited about the rest such as :
atelier rorona
resonance of fate
the last rebellion
ar tonelico 3...etc etc :P

I can share my experience with Star Ocean 4. I love the Star Ocean series and Tri-Ace games in general, and Star Ocean 4 disappointed me. The battle system is still great as always, but the story is just terrible, and the voice acting just accentuates it. The game has some of the cheesiest dialogue I've ever seen in an RPG. Basically, think sci-fi epic mixed with the lamest anime humor and situations you can think of, and you have Star Ocean 4 in a nutshell. It has more of a dating-simesque and anime feel to it than earlier entries in the series, but in this case these influences definitely don't do the game any favors.

Depending on your age, these lackings in the story / dialogue may not even bother you. From what I've noticed, it's usually the adults that are groaning about the story's shortcomings--the teens don't seem to be bothered by the cartoony, simpleminded and overly idealistic dialogue and situations. I suppose the desire for mature storytelling is something that develops with age. If Wild Arms 4 didn't bother you, then you probably won't be bothered overly much by Star Ocean 4. Also, if you're just looking for an RPG that's fun to play, and don't mind a silly story, then you'll probably like Star Ocean 4. Even with my gripes, I don't regret the purchase. It just could've been a lot better than it was.

That's how the Star Ocean games are, weak story but great gameplay no one plays Star Ocean for the story.

A lot of people say that, but I liked the story in SO2 and SO3 just fine.
