Well I'm almost finished with the 1st, but I have so little health left idk if I can actually beat it  But I do own all three with the hope to get to them all someday.

vampko wrote:Siren (The PS2 version) was a GREAT example of a game where you can't fight back, and was probably the scariest game I've ever played  I will never forget the scene where you're running from the principal shibito and he just seems to always pop up where you are out of nowhere. I will also never forget many more scary moments in that game. You NEVER feel safe in that game, except when you have a gun, but you BARELY get those weapons. Heck, you barely get weapons period. The PS3 remake still retains a lot of the scare factor, but gave the player too much power to fight back. Which reduced a lot of the scare factor. I don't know why people complained so much about the first one's weapon system. I found it perfect. Combat was a last resort, and your main priority was just escape and nothing else.

I tried the demo a while back for the PS3 version and I have to say I wasn't a fan. I can see how the scare factor is there but nothing in it really grabbed my attention. Also I recall it making me dizzy.

That's your problem, you're not playing the PS2 version. The PS2 version was a masterpiece (aside from the horrible english dub xD), and had some of the creepiest moments. Like when you play as the little girl and are actually inside of a house, where a Shibito family lives, trying to hide from them while acquiring certain items and setting up certain things for other characters. That was a double-edged feature of Siren that I loved/hated. You had to actually set things up for different characters. Throughout the game you play as different characters, at different times in the story. Consequently, you have to pick up certain items, see certain things, and do certain objectives to advance further in the story. This can be VERY frustrating. But, it's cool to know that the door that you hurried through was unlocked by another person. Or that the candle you have was given to you by someone else. It was an amazing game, and I hope to be able to get ahold of the second one someday. It DOES make combat more important, but from what I've read, it's still much less important than in the PS3 version.

What is it even about. That does sound pretty cool, but what if the previous person doesn't set something out for you because you just missed it. Are you screwed? Though I'm still a bit hesitant if it is going to make me dizzy.

Hmm...I'm surprised to hear people's thoughts of RE 4 and 5. I notice the change both in gameplay and story direction but I actually prefer them to older ones. Yeah, the scare factor has gone down, and they seem to have done away with zombies entirely, all you do is fight monsters and use a lot of guns. That's why I'm hoping with 6 they can combine some of the newer elements (action and gameplay) with the older elements (scare factor and story) I liked the stories for 4 and 5 but they felt kinda like different games at times. I do want to see Leon in another RE game, and Ada too.

Unless you have problems with seizures, it shouldn't make you dizzy. The sightjacking in the PS2 version was much easier on the eyes. You could only view through the eyes of one shibito at a time.
As for the story
Spoiler:
You're on an old island off Japan. It is a very traditional village, that holds a dark secret. While the village is performing a ritual that they perform every year, a Japanese teenager who is visiting messes up the ritual. From that point on, all Hell breaks loose, and the townspeople turn into these strange zombie-like creatures referred to as 'shibito'. There are also other people on the island who were not instantly turned into a Shibito. The game is about fighting for your survival and to escape the island.

That's the basic premise, but the plot gets MUCH more interesting as time goes on, and
Spoiler:
Shibito start acting more and more human as you go further..o_o
which is when things get really creepy in that game. Also, when you're sightjacking them, they make the creepiest sounds/noises I've ever heard. Obviously I can't replicate them, you have to hear them to believe it.

And, to answer the question, yes and no. Yes, you are screwed, but, the game works on a stage select function. You don't actually just go through the game on a straight path. There are many ways to go through the game, but sadly the ending is always the same.

How it works, is that you have to unlock certain requirements to unlock stages, which are basically certain points in time that are in a certain character's perspective. This has got to be one of the worst parts of this game. If they had just kept everything else the same, and only improved upon this aspect (like making it so you don't have to find EVERYTHING to actually beat the game) this would have probably been the best survival horror game to date. But, that system is what makes the Fatal Frame series a better candidate. I still love Siren dearly though :D

Me too, I forgot about her! And I'm not too fond of Dead Rising replacing Resident Evil nor do I think it can. But if Capcom wants to do it they may focus on Dead Rising more than Resident Evil or possibly screw up RE6 if they've lost interest...

And when's the next DMC gonna come out?! That's a series I hope the NEVER decide to ditch! It's my favorite Capcom game!

Sounds like it'll be really good. I hope they don't screw it up, but I'll have faith until otherwise.

RE 6?!?!? Really? I thought they tied up most of the loose ends in RE 5 :?

I'd play it, though I'd like to see someone different as the MC like Barry Burton

More Ada would be kick-ass too :D

They didn't tie up any lose ends and actually created one more with the Wesker Children thing. I want to know.

What happened to Rebecca, Billy, Barry, Carlos, Claire, Nicholai(he may have survived), Hunk(he may be in Revelations) Krasuer(his screen when you beat the Merc game in RE4 suggests that he lives), Ada, Ark and the kids.
