PS2 classics coming to PlayStation Network

YES!!! Finally, Sony goes through with this plan...!!! Well, not that it will effect me all that much personally, since most of the rare games for the PS2 are already in my hands... but it is still great news.

For $10 (actually, $8 with the 20% PS+ discount), I'll be getting a $20 tomorrow as soon as possible and download all Vanillaware titles.

PS2 classics sounds good to me. I'd be stoked to see Sony expand these PS2 titles for the Vita system

The great thing about releasing games that will emulate properly on the PS3 through PSN is that there's little technological reason to not allow them to operate on the PSV. While the specs aren't the same, the PSV has more processing power available per core as far as general instruction execution goes, which is what is needed to run some of the higher end PS2 games in emulation. However, I'm not going to bet against Sony finding a way to screw it up.

Oh xD I got confused because I saw Infamous and such x.x Thing is I have a lot of ps2 games already :p well at least I won't have to trudge through amazon for some of them now.

I would be very surprised if these weren't capable of being with Vita too.

I'm interested in God Hand, GrimGrimoire and Ring of Red out of those announced so far and I can think of a ton of great PS2 games that should be on there.

Is the $10 price confirmed or is that just a guess?

This is great news! I've always wanted to play Odin Sphere, and GrimGrimoire is one of my all time favorites! Too bad they probably won't come with trophies.

Can we transfer our PS2 game saves to PS3 for use with "PS2 classics on PSN"? And for that matter, would trophies become retroactive for what we completed last gen?

Saves and trophies will most likely not be compatible with PS2 classics.

Yeah, I thought not. I don't feel like replaying my whole library to unlock or get credit for what I already accomplished. (Unless it's something short & fun a la Ico/SotC)

I've already played the crap out of GrimGrimoire, but I'll easily do it again because I love that game! But mostly I'd be getting games I wasn't able to play on the PS2, such as Odin Sphere. I got my PS2 at the end of it's life span and I only had it for a year before I gave it away and bought a PS3. So there ate quite a few PS2 games I never played. I hope NISA releases some of their older titles that haven't been ported such as the Atelier games. I really wanted to play Rouge Galaxy as well. I could spend all day with this.
