Wipeout HD had some crazy load times, too. Especially online...

Hmm, HD didn't seem to have long loading times. Of course it might seem that way since I've been playing it for the past week. Tell ya what; since I plan on picking up 2048 on launch day, I'll let you guys know how serious the loading is.

You tell them Ryo. 2048 looks amazing for a handheld.

Now anyways, some of you might down talk me here, but whatever happened to siliconera's Sunday funday articles? They just died out of no where a few months ago. I did kind of enjoy them.

Do any PC gamers here use gamepads? I got a PS3-style Gigaware gamepad from a Radioshack a while back. There's a button where you can switch between analog mode where directional button controls would use the left analog stick and digital mode where directional button controls use the D-pad. The problem being, it's only one or the other. I can't use the D-pad AND the analog stick. Meaning that if I want to use the analog stick for 3D movement, I'd have to use the analog stick for menu selections or 2D movement as well. There doesn't seem to be any way to set it up so that directional controls can be both D-pad and analog so that I could select menu options with the D-pad while using analog to move in 3D games. Not even with joy2key.

So what I want to know is, are there any PC gamepads out there that is PS3-style* but allows you to use both the D-pad and the analog sticks at the same time for directional movement?

* PS3-style meaning it looks like a PS3 controller as far as general shape and the buttons.

I just use a PS3 controller, with the very handy MotionInJoy drivers, which have default profiles set up for pretty much all Playstation controllers as well as the ability to set your own.
I can use the D-pad and analogue sticks at the same time too. :D

Is it possible to use a PS3 controller to use on emulators?

You can use a PS3 controller on a PC?

But well, I don't know if I'd wanna do that. I already use it on the PS3 itself, don't want to wear it out playing it on PC too.

I'd appreciate if you do that. If it's not that bad, I might get it.

Simple enough seeing as it's just a USB device, before that when I didn't own a PS3 I bought a cheap USB adaptor for a PS2 controller.
Which also means it can fill as a cheap stand in for a PS3 controller too if needed. :D

All right guys, turns out that my gamepad only acts the way it does when I play games that originally isn't gamepad-compatible and have to use joy2key instead. For some reason, joy2key'd games don't allow both the analog and D-pad at the same time when you set it so that keyboard's left arrow is gamepad's left, etc.

However, when I used it on already gamepad-compatible games such as Project Black Sun (another Metroidvania-style game) and Chantelise, everything works out just fine. That is, I can use both the analog stick and the D-pad for directional movement instead of only one or the other. So like in Chantelise, I could use the D-pad for the main menu and the analog to move Elise. It's so much better to move 3D characters with the analog stick, so I'm happy for this.

Of course, it's only these two particular games I tested this on. I don't know how it would work if I tried another gamepad-capable game until I try Recettear or Bastion, nor do I know if it would work the way I want if I emulated PS2 games.

http://andriasang.com/comzrd/weekly_sales_chart/

People (and third-party companies) need to see the truth: after releasing a new Mario game on the 3DS, nothing else is going to sell. Before, a game like Senran Kagura could sell 60k on its first week without any Mario competition, now a game like Beyond the Labyrinth couldn't manage to sell 20k.

It's so sad; the state and direction of the gaming industry. Oh Nepgear, will you come save our game industry?

To be fair, Beyong the Labyrinth didn't look that fun, at least to me...

She can save Sony consoles, but I don't think she could ever save Nintendo hardwares.
