I still hate the lack of a stamina bar of some shape or form, I'm the type of person who likes to go in and dominate in fighting games. Having to build up a bar for a "super" just sounds... unappealing.

If it helps, you still have to combo em to death, it just isn't visible...heck, SSB never really had HP either, you just smacked em up...though maybe I'm just being optimistic

On the plus side, no ring outs means that you can dominate much longer as long as you can continue to build your bar up...

I forget, which style did Digimon Rumble Arena use?

in al lfighting games with supers, you typically have to build up a bar to use them anyway.

MizuMikomi wrote:[color=#404040]Lack of stamina bar, no pitfalls, and most stages have barriers on the side.... why exactly?

This doesn't have to be street fighter to be fun.

pitfalls would be cheap and anticlimactic. (see Virtua Fighter, DOA1, Super Smash, Battle Arena Toshinden etc.) no fun.

barriers are good.

The problem is that people expect the fighting system to be something it's not.

Which is exactly why I'm saying just wait and see, it is obviously a party brawler, but also a fighting game that wants to be taken seriously, so we'll see

it's better without "combos" because combos while take skill, are really cheap exploits to win with no fear of a comeback.

That's one problem that plagues fighting games, they flaunt double digit numbers and flashy combos when not taking into account that is the very thing that makes fighting games so cheap and one sided. a match can practically be rewarded to the player that lands the poke first and does 1 or 2 combos, the match is practically theirs.

Taht's why I prefer more simulation type fighting games like WWE, UFC, etc. because there is always a chance to make a comeback and it keeps both fighters on their toes.

Even the most balanced fighting system is still Karate Champ, and it doesn't need combos to be skillful .

Of course All Stars is a party game so it shouldn't be serious to be fun. If people think it's too chaotic, it's not for them.

Luckily, with this system in place, there IS always a chance for a come back since when you die, you are pretty much on even footing with everyone else, there isn't a weakened enemy on the field at all...plus, you have the ability to even make level 1's hit more than 1 enemy if your opponent is stupid enough, just look at the E3 demo shown during the conference...Sly managed to kill 2 people with his level 1 because they both got under him even though level 1 attacks are only supposed to kill 1 person

This game has potential, that much is a fact, hopefully, they don't screw up

That they are...so Shiz, are you planning on picking this up as well? Seeing as I can play with you either way if you do

For the PS Vita, but maybe not at launch.

Hopefully there's not too much lag between console and handheld then...since it should be fun either way

I'm not really into the PS3 games that are getting a Vita version just to say that the Vita is getting games, but this one of those that I may be getting.

the characters have already been leaked: Jak and Toro

but when Big Daddy and Drake were leaked it killed a lot of their buzz, so maybe they'll announce different characters to one up the leakers.

What if they start leaking bullshit and announcing something else?

"Pst, somebody leaked that Dante will be in"
"AND NOW ANNOUNCING RAZ!"
"GOD DAMMIT!"

Why would they remove him? Both Toro and Kuro are in SFxT and I believe they're in Hot Shots Golf and LittleBigPlanet too.
