System Prisma is a separate developer that was bought by NIS.
So that's a pretty good comparison, actually.
Although, Compile Heart was an independent company known as "Compile" back in the 90's.
You know, before they went bankrupt, gave the rights to their Puyo Puyo series to Sonic Team, and starting making shitty games.

My list will likely be similar this gen. Technically that list was for last gen honestly. This Gen's just begun really. Although, so far, GUST will be bumped off the list if they don't announce something soon...

So far this next gen really only has vita and 3ds in it

And so far square will have rocket slime 3, KH very early, so they get the top spot.

But once paper mario, fire emblem are out its a war

This is about RPGs, so mentioning that game is pointless.

And, this gen, we have Infinite Souls, MK2 (NISA version), Graces F (NB Version), Ni No Kuni (NB version), and who knows what else?

yes, and those games are coming out after that point. So, they're part of the gen. The way I see it anyway.

Yeah, I'm not going to define a generation by a handheld unless talking handhelds.

CDProjektRED with The Witcher and The Witcher 2. Hands-down my favorite CRPG's of the "gen" as defined by console releases.

Gust with Ar tonelico Qoga and the Arland series.

Cavia with NieR.

I guess Nihon Falcom deserves a mention. : \

And that's about it. Technically not for a current-gen console, but released within the time frame: Sakura Wars V and Persona 4.

I haven't purchased any of their games since they severely slowed PC development. So I "guess" they do in that I haven't played anything more than TitS (which wasn't pirated) because I don't buy their PSP games.

I could also insert random Japanese terms where English works in response to games you listed, but I didn't because I know this is a matter of opinion. P:

That's fair if you haven't had a chance to play their games.

or a 6.1 metacritic and user score of 5.0/10

this zeta guy thinks he's so cool, using common Japanese terms to describe terrible video games

and now he's using facts to back up his opinion? I call shenanigans

I've played the re-releases of Ys games in the past, so it was enough for me to include Falcom.

"People, the pure and generally intelligent creatures that they are, agree with me en masse. Therefore, my opinion is empirically right."

Are we really going to reference aggregate websites in a (misled, silly and rude) attempt to (falsely) raise your preference above another's? Because we can go that route, and suddenly the fate of role-playing games is not so bright and sunflowery when they're bludgeoned by less creative but better marketed titles with higher production value.

Edit: Oh, you ninja edited. You. :P Stating opinion as fact is where I bow out. Seems you've taken a note from stealth. Conversation is impossible at this point (if it was ever possible).

I'm totally stoked for the Ys IV remake. and make some TitS action too if we're lucky.

"people: Pure, and generally intelligent"
I wish. Then Capcom would release MML3, Sonic team would make a good game, and FFXIII wouldn't be so terrible.

The "facts" I was referring to were the reviews, not the general consensus (opinions) of Qoga being terrible. It was just easier to mention the metacritic since they also have links to the many reviews it received from various sites.

--oh, mailman's here......XD
*comes back*

Anyway, I do respect your opinion. I'm not trying to say "hurrdurr I think this game is terrible, so there is no way anyone thinks otherwise"

It should be obvious from my avid devotion to Falcom, but I'd be the first to complain about masterfully crafted RPGs from small devs being overshadowed by less creative, more heavily marketed games. So I have no argument there.

also, the two PSVitas I ordered came in.

See, Zeta: I don't mind this. You dislike the game, and I'm absolutely fine with that.

But let's be serious: I cannot see how reviews are no less subjective (aggregate or not) than opinions when it comes to video games or any form of entertainment media. Because that's what they are. They're bloated opinions renamed "reviews" by journalists.

I mean, Persona 4 was reproached merely for being a PS2 game (Game Informer). NieR was discredited by a guy who couldn't figure out that the "x" on your screen is an objective marker (1UP or Joystiq). Neptunia was lambasted by someone who had 3 or 4% trophies in the game (Destructoid). There's an article on Kotaku claiming all the (well-scored) newer Zelda games are shit. In her "Wot I Think" of Katawa Shoujo, Leigh Alexander said, "Whether your reason for playing a disabled girl dating sim is you like dating sim stories, you like sex games, or you like disabled girls, you will not be salved. There is absolutely nothing pleasurable or compelling about Katawa Shoujo, save for the fact it exists." (Rock Paper Shotgun)

I'm not defending Ar tonelico Qoga. Hate it. I just cannot believe that these people, being journalists, are somehow supernatural folk whose word is objective and categorical.

You obviously agree that these scores are subject to more factors than simply whether the game is universally good or bad... so I guess that'll have to be our middle ground.

Wrt Ys: I actually haven't played any since OiF for PC. Man, it's been a while.
