Thus I can't vote on them. Seems fair.

The closest you can get is Ys: Oath in Felghana on Steam. That's a great JRPG for PC gamers.

I don't have the income to support such purchases at the moment.
Although I have played Recettear, but those are very recent developments as far as JRPG releases on PC go.

If Totori wins, I'll proclaim this poll meaningless... so many better jrpgs this generation...

If one of my choices were on the poll, I'd vote for one of them, but out of the options on the poll, Atelier Totori is my favorite. Still, I don't consider it the best JRPG from this generation either.

I'd certainly have chosen NieR, but that's not how votes work. Doofuses don't seem to understand that.

Yeah, but you could have done without narrowing it down to 5 entries. Nothing wrong with just picking the title that received the most votes in the round of open nominations. The way it was, people were "forced" to pick a title they didn't even really believe was the best JRPG of this gen, so it kind of invalidates the results. If everyone had their druthers, Totori wouldn't have even come in second place - it was outright beaten by two titles, and tied by another.

Regardless, an online poll is an online poll; only really intended for eliciting conversation anyway (I hope). It's certainly not like I'm gonna feel like the games I would have picked are less worthy now (nor would anyone else).

Seriously though - <whispers> Xenoblade Chronicles... If you haven't played it, you REALLY should. It's probably the best RPG I've played in 10 years, and is within a stone's throw what I would consider to be the best RPG of all time. I suggest using the Dolphin emulator to help you cope with the trifling Wii graphics. :P

Yeah, I could have done that. Though I doubt that would have changed people being dimwits over the results. It's not actually cut off, by the way. I was just being snarky in response to Clephas.

And you're right: it is just an online poll, Neon. It's no more valid than the GameFAQs polls. But people need to feel their opinions are somehow surpassing others' and agreed upon by the majority because they're their own. Doesn't really matter what won, people would have responded in kind.

Edit: Wrt the thread, I think this generation was fairly unimpressive, anyway. There were only a handful of current-gen titles I'd even care to nominate. Obviously those I nominated initially would remain. I'm having trouble finding a fourth.

Edit 2: Derp, forgot Xenoblade Chronicles. Wrt that, I would like to play it, but Wii. D:

I mean... whether it is from a technical perspective or a writing perspective... there were so many games that surpassed Totori this generation that it isn't even funny. Valkyria Chronicles, Lost Odyssey, Tales of Graces, Nier, Ar Tonelico 3... If nothing else, it surprised the heck out of me that Valkyria Chronicles wasn't on the poll... even though I prefer Lost Odyssey (I'm old fashioned, and the Thousand Years of Dreams still make me cry)... that game was in its own way the defining game of the generation in terms of jrpgs... I am glad that we all agreed FFXIII didn't deserve a chance though, lol.

Agreed, Clephas. Well, not on Valkyria or Graces. Especially not Graces. Though I still think Totori was phenominal.

Giving it more thought, all the previous generations were so much more satisfying wrt RPGs. I can enjoy the genre for a variety of reasons, as evidenced by my nominations, but it just felt weak. Sure, I haven't played Lost Odyssey or Xenoblade Chronicles. Sure, I would like to play Lost Odyssey or Xenoblade Chronicles, but I don't think any amount of greatness therein would redeem an entire generation. If that were the case, NieR would have done it for me.

And I'm glad we can agree on FFXIII. xD
