Gamechatter.com Mugen Souls Z Review 8.5/10
http://gamerchatter.com/2014/05/14/mugen-souls-z-review/
This is a review from somebody who loves Mugen Souls Z but hasn't played the original game.

I like this review because they seem to understand that there's no need to use all systems in the game. They say that the game is a bit overwhelming at times so it's going to be hard for new players to play it.

The comments about the repeated lines in battle were pretty funny such as "Watch me lady Chou-Chou!" from Ryuto, I liked that one

This was a very fun dive for a first Mugen Souls game.

I like it when they repeat annoying lines at the beginning of their turns since it's fun to make fun of them. Makes the game seem nonsensical and silly which is what it's trying to go for.

Yeah but in general, people will get annoyed. Is it really that expensive to make new lines?

Probably not expensive but Compile Heart must be a member of the EPA since they like to recycle.

Edit: Who remembers what else Ryuto says besides, "Watch me lady Chou-Chou!"?

Looks like I'm the only one looking for reviews of this game. Got two reviews here, one from somebody who thought the first game was the worst thing they've ever played and another from somebody who enjoyed the first game. Both reviews are very positive.

Christian Cage from Battle screen.net 8.5/10
http://battlescreen.net/2014/05/18/review-mugen-souls-z/
This one's interesting to read since they weren't a real fan of the original Mugen Souls but really liked Mugen Souls Z.

Zack Reese from RPG Site Mugen Souls Z Review 9/10
http://rpgsite.net/review/3575-mugen-souls-z-review
If you like the first game, you will like Mugen Souls Z a lot more because it has been really tweaked up for people who play their games hardcore or try to achieve everything in it.

They're all fair to pretty good ratings. Not bad. ;)

There's always something for anyone in Mugen Souls Z. If the story or characters won't get them, then the gameplay will or vise versa.

Some more reviews here.
Mugen Souls Z Review by R3D from R3DPlaystationFilmer 9/10

Reviewer never played the original Mugen Souls but they say that Mugen Souls Z is probably one of the JRPGs they've played on the PS3. Graphics do not matter at all because it's good overall, the game play, characters and the story makes it feel so enjoyable that they went to purchase the original Mugen Souls. The downside is having to captivate planet spots to progress through the story (I agree) but transforming is fun.

By Matt S. from Digitally Downloaded 4/5

This person also gave a positive review of the original Mugen Souls and also one of the first reviewers who played the first game to not mention any technical improvements. I find this remark interesting at the end
Spoiler:
"As much fun as it is to play, the sad irony of Mugen Souls Z is that it is best played by people who hadn't experienced the original, but the only people that could possibly be interested in the game must have played the original."
Most of the reviews for this game never played the original one but the consumers probably have.
