Will Makai Kingdom play on PS3?

Does anybody know whether the Makai Kingdom PS2 disc will play on a PS3? Maybe any particular models of PS3?

Unfortunately, I believe that Sony has currently removed all PS2-playing functionality from the PS3. Which really kind of sucks, 'cuz I'd love to transfer my data to my PS3 and then only have to get an HD Monitor instead of a full Television...

A few models from the "Fat" PS3 still play PS2 discs. No Slim model play it.

If you have an original 60 or 20 GB PS3, then it SHOULD work. The compatibility rate on those consoles is something like 99.8% I believe. The 80GB North American PS3 uses software emulation for PS2 games. It is said to have about 80% compatibility with PS2 games. The EU 80GB doesn't have any PS2 compatibility.

NOTE: All PS3s can still play PS1 games. There have been rumors about the return of software emulation PS2 support, but they've been going on for ages and nothing has come of it.

The solution to all our problems? I think it was only $15 when I got mine. I haven't been able to get it to work with Windows 7.

*Shakes head* I wanted a Monitor 'cuz they're usually cheaper, but they don't play PS2 stuff very easily.

Though, Newegg.com has a 15" HDTV for about $110 after shipping, which is a pretty good price.

I guess I'll have to buy a Slim PS2 to replay the game that turned me into a NIS fan for life. Oh well, they're pretty cheap now.
