All we know so far, is that it's a system in which two characters combine their strengths to pull off stronger moves. And even then, that's not exactly what it said, but what I am gleaning from it.

Yeah, thats why I instantly thought romance. While I like yuri, I don't think a Neptunia MK2 needs it. We'll just have to wait and see I guess..

I kinda hope the lily system is more...ecchi to say the least. I mean this game just screams hentai, I really wouldn't be surprised if a Neptune hentai game is released. Of course the actual game (Neptune 1) wasn't full of fan service the artwork and characters just seemed like they really wanted to go that extra mile.

And FFXIII-2 being released so soon after the first isn't surprising? And that's a much larger scale game, by Square-Enix no less! In the case of Neptune Mk II, I think they've been working on it since the first one was released in Japan. So for Mk II to be released a year afterwords isn't that surprising.
