If SEGA thought it was a good idea to release SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG, then why not Sakura Wars?

....well, obviously, it would not resonate well with the American audi*shot*

I'm going to be frank here, I felt he nitpicked over too much. The graphics are fine, why is he comparing the 2D portraits to the 3D and taking off points for that? Pretty ironic.

...I'll actually agree with that; I thought it was good presentation for the 2D portraits to come up in battle, especially during those special attacks. This is the Wii, after all. I mean, they did it in the Persona ga*shot*

A lower score isn't warranted only for being different, so he had to throw in a few token reasons. It was a positive review overall.

I just read Nintendo Power's review; it was fairly positive, but they had a problem with the pacing and said that the battle system wasn't really deep, although they did require some strategy.

3/5, lukewarm review with major complaints being repetition and save system

t-ono.net wrote:After reloading from my last save, I was severely disappointed in a lack of a skip or fast forward button.

Mr. Mak, if you're reading this, you can unlock a fast forward (hold L2 or R2) after clearing the game once. I also would not suggest aiming for perfection on the first run because there are a few scenes you can't access anyway.

NGamer UK / Gamesradar gives Sakura Wars a 6/10. Major complaint: You have to press the "A button" to advance the dialogue box. No, seriously. 1up's recent Yakuza 3 'butthurt' review was more sophisticated than this.

Oh, by the way, there are auto text box and fast forward options. The latter is unlockable after your first clear save.

...the review was fair in my opinion; the wierdest thing is that this review said the battles were too long, whereas others say that everything else was too long.

...we're never pleased, are we?

...it's an rpg: still a somewhat positive review, though.

Reading some of the other reviews.... I can't say I agree with any of them over the small issues. People have been anticipating the series to come over for a long time, right? And now some are killing it for the length(among other things!?)? That's not right...

Heh, I remember when too many choices and time spent with a game was a sign of a good game. The thing I see happening here is that people are too hyped over getting to finally play it. Nostalgia is the culprit. I don't see why they can't just go into it like any other game and not let that judge their opinions.

Personally, I find it interesting that IGN has yet to review the Wii version. Also, to address an earlier comment, I'm pretty sure IGN does in fact use the proper 1-10 scale. Also, I found the PS2 review to be pretty fair. Main complaints seem to be the fact that the graphics weren't that upgraded for the Wii and since it's from 2005 it's obviously not the best the PS2 has seen (though the reviewer did compliment the style), some problems playing it on a PS3, as well as some disconnect between dialouge choices and what's actually said. It's was a pretty positive review and made me excited to get it.

Also, I'm a fan of having lots of story in my games, like Xenosaga and Ace Attorney, so I don't understand how it's a complaint that there's a lot of story...I mean, what, you want them to cut out the story or something? Reduce it's presence? I'm betting that they'd complain about that too.

And this is why Michael Bay is still permitted to make movies (unfortunately). The casual fan wants more action and explosions and on top of that, the less stuff to think about, the better.
