Those can all be gotten around by releasing digitally, though, can't they? I know Sony's picky about what shows up on shelves, but I don't think I've ever seen them flat out refuse a title at all.

Digital releases still get scrutinized. And I'm sure you realize this, but just because you don't see them refuse titles doesn't mean titles aren't getting refused. After all, how often do you hear about the book manuscript that didn't get published or the screenplay that didn't get turned into a movie?

Well with games, especially niche titles and smaller publishers, we do tend to hear a little more. Not necessarily why, but at least that they tried and there was something keeping it from happening.

Things like Aksys's "AH3 on 360 just wasn't possible. We tried." or NISA's "We just don't feel like PSP games are really feasible anymore."

Here's adding my support to the idea of SOME form of eventual Marl Kingdom translation :3

While I doubt it would happen (or at least not in the near future), I would so love to finally get my hands on the rest of the Marl Kingdom series...Sadly enough, I think the best way to sell them would be in a collection set as opposed to individual games, but for me, at this point, I don't really care how it gets released. I loved Rhapsody ever since I got my hands on a PS1 copy of the game oh-so many years ago and when I found out there were more games, I've been desiring them ever since...

If a game has these things but has sales potential regardless of that, they're more likely to forgive it. But the Little Princess series isn't exactly a hot property with massive sales potential.

At the risk of banging a certain drum a little too hard, this is one of the reasons the PC is such a great release platform; there's no central agency telling you that you can or can't release something. Sure, individual vendors can choose to not carry you (Steam for example sometimes chooses to not carry games or takes a while to pick them up, which can hurt a bit these days) but even if one particular vendors opts not to carry you, there's plenty of others who will.

This being said, Marl Kingdom 2 has another issue going for it: age. It's a PS1 game and would basically need to be rebuilt from the ground up to be considered "releasable". NIS-J seems to have generally moved on from Marl, so...

Dem moneymakers, man. Every NIS game is either Disgaeaverse or a game that acts like Disgaea. I love the games, but come on NIS, what happened to your traditional RPGs from completely different universes and gameplay?

I do kind of agree with this. I mean, I admit, Disgaea 1 introduced me to NIS/NISA, but after that, I began checking out every other game they made to see if I'd like them. Sure enough, I loved them even more. Unfortunately the sales don't show the same on whole and Disgaea ultimately became their best selling series, so I can't fault them for putting so much focus on their biggest seller. But all the while, I absolutely loved La Pucelle, Makai Kingdom, Rhapsody, and pretty much anything else with the NISA logo (which means Gust too...and to be honest, I'm more of a fan of Gust at the moment, only because there's nothing really new with NIS it seems, or at least what makes it overseas and isn't a port).

So sad....I guess I need to find new interests...but at least Gust has me for the time being, so NISA will still be doing good through me...

i'd like to see more.

also, if done, please retain the games gameplay, don't alter it like the remake of the original.

they even took out the monster recruitment in that one.

Shin Megami Tensei Soul Hackers is 1 I can think of sony denying for not being fully rendered in 3D, there was also Persona 2 Innocent Sin for the content of the dialogue, One Piece for not having english dubbing, I can think of a few more sony america denies for dumb reasons

Do you mean Innocent Sin's original release, or did you mean Eternal Punishment on PSP? Please don't be the latter...

I know this is old, but I wanted to let it be known. During the Neptunia V stream they had some Q&A and I asked if there was any chance that the Marl games or La Pucelle Ragnarok would ever be translated for a PSN release or something and Translator-kun said that they would like to move on to newer things. So it seems like it's not likely.

Lol Is it bad that when I saw your name and "Game Requests" I automatically assumed it was post about Neptunia Mk2 avatars? Actually...that wouldn't be all that bad of an idea, I guess technically something like that would go in game requests or feedback.
