Well the doc claim can be utilized as a pseudo townie lynch for VCA and we get another lynch for VCA (and maybe catching scum) immediately after. I'd rather take this approach that is basically guaranteed to benefit town in some way (even if we lose the PR) as opposed to risking it. Because if we just lynch a town PR, we waste a lynch and accomplish dick.

Also, this adds a lot of wine to the equation. It allows mafia to claim PRs without risking a counter claim.

Well I'm referring prior to the flip, mafia would be allowed to just say "hey I have a PR" and no one can counterclaim, so deciding the lynch is a difficult task.

Town sure as hell does that, I've done that every game, town or not. It's my drive to survive, I could care less who is taken out in the game.

Last game I claimed Cop because I didn't want to die, I didn't care about who else got lynched because of my action, I just wanted to stay in the game.

Xeras defending himself, when he has been close to lynch lock, is not "thinking only about himself".

IF he has a PR and we kill him, we will lose that PR. Losing a PR in a mostly vanilla game would NOT be good for town in any way, shape or form.
