Moretsu Pirates (AKA Bodacious Pirates)

The story centers around a spirited high school girl named Marika. She keeps herself busy with the space yacht club and her part-time job at a high-class retro café. One day, two men suddenly appear and claim to be subordinates of her dead father. They demand that she assume command of the space pirate ship Benten Maru. A privateer ship's compact was made during a war of independence a century ago, and according to that compact, the ship must be inherited by the captain's next direct descendant. Marika finds herself embarking on a new life as a space pirate.

First episode I liked quite a bit~

The main character's not a ditz. The op/ed's are quite good. And it got me to laugh a bunch ~

Really looking forward to the next episode =^o^=

It was pretty good, I guess. I didn't like the OP song (the animation was nice), but I really liked the ED song. So the MC is Kato Marika.. oh joy. That's a name I'll never forget xD

It was indeed low on the fanservice scale, which almost makes me think they're gonna be ramping it up. Like, they kept the fanservice down to show off the show itself, and not scare away anyone, and then they will be ramping it up now that they've garnered the interest of people.

Course, the whole title could be a joke in itself, and it's not really fanservicey at all. Anyone here have experience with the source material? Most often it's a good indicator of how much ecchiservice you can expect.

So I finally got around watching this, and I gotta say, I really liked it. I especially liked the OP, the song had this "retro" feel to it...would that be the proper way to describe it?

Based off of a book series, probably Light Novels.

Incidentally, they've been planning this series since at *least* 2009. That may have had a significant impact on how they decided to do things; if it was going to be just ecchi stuff, I doubt it would've taken anywhere near so long to actually go ahead and do (assuming that other factors didn't simply delay it, of course, which is still a possibility).

What I love is the slow pace.Giving viewers time to soak in the setting, and the characters we'll be watching, before all the good stuff comes in.

This is a really well-put-together series so far, yeah.

(And you know, if they still have enough original source material left over by the end of this series, and if the show is popular enough, who is to say there wouldn't be a chance of a second season?)

Anyone else think the soda manufacturing companies in The Future have way too much money on their hands? Seems pretty wasteful to add all that extra metal on the cans just to facilitate opening them >_>
