I tend to ask for opinion about Mafia from time to time. So instead of creating a new thread every time, I thought it might be a good idea to create one thread for general discussion.
Also, there's Mizu's suggestion to make a thread which keeps track over the Hosting Queue, so it can be used for this as well

Hey, just got a Lopez style idea.
Since we're in a new year (well, for over two weeks already ) how about holding an "Annual NISA Mafia Awards - 2011"?

People will vote for stuff like "Best Mod", "Most Fun Game", "Best Scenes" and etc based on all the 2011 mafia games. I have no problem being the one who counts the votes.

Other than one of Sj's and Necro's Touhou game there have been no other possible chances. And in Necro's he put a mechanic to where there wouldn't be a "no win" unfortunately. =/

Your trolling needs some work, though your initial comment is somewhat true.

Personally, I think the Mafia games really need a shot in the arm to be fun, well more enjoyable....maybe "more meaningful" would be a better choice of words...

There was a possibility in other games as well, just the third party didn't make it.

Personally, I think the Mafia games really need a shot in the arm to be fun, well more enjoyable....maybe "more meaningful" would be a better choice of words...

If more people were active and trying to make things happen - it'd be much better. The game itself, even in its simplest form, can be very fun and enjoyable.

But I guess the games should be adjusted to fit the community and not vice versa. One of my personal aims with this awarding thing, is checking which games are considered better than others and trying to adjust my own game planning accordingly.


Okay, since people seem to like the idea - then all that's left is to think of all the categories and wait until Sj's current game ends (it also started during 2011 so I believe it should be included as well).





Categories I thought about:


Best Mod - The Mod you liked the most
Best Player - The player you consider to be the best mafia player
Favorite Player - The player you like the most to play with

Best Flavor - Game with the best flavor idea or/and how well the flavor was mixed in the game
Best Scenes - Game with the most interesting/fun/whatever scenes
Best Setup - Game with the best roles setup. What's exactly "best" in this case is up to you
Best Mechanic - Game with the best additional mechanic/power role role
Most Enjoyable Game - Game you enjoyed playing the most
Best Game - Game which you consider to be overall TEH BEST and would like all games to be like this

Now that Sj's game ended, we can start the Annual NISA Mafia Awards - 2011

You can vote until 1/25/2012. You can't vote for yourself or for any game YOU modded in any of the categories. I believe this is most far this way.

The categories are what I listed above.

My votes:


Best Mod - Necro (Overall I think he made the best games with great balance in mind, while still keeping things fresh and interesting)
Best Player - Sj (What can I say? He plays well. Sad that he lost interest)
Favorite Player - Xeras (He's active and tends to do some great stuff, like fakeclaiming, that make games much more fun for me)

Best Flavor - Mafia X: Paradigm Shift (It was just FF and nothing more original or unique, but I really liked how the flavor was beautifully mixed in the game)
Best Scenes - Mafia IX: An Unknown World (I remember liking the scenes there the most, even though Sj's previous game also had great scenes)
Best Setup - Mafia 8: Imperishable Night (Maybe it just turned out great, or maybe the setup was really good. Anyway, this game left the best impression over me when it comes to "roles setup")
Best Mechanic - Choose your role Mafia (Writing fake scenes, at least if that's what it was, is a pretty cool PR IMO)
Most Enjoyable Game - NISA Mafia Episode VI (Probably because it's the first game I played as an active player and because I felt very important with that, so called "breaking", strategy of "PM Mass Role Claim")
Best Game - Mafia 8: Imperishable Night (Due to circumstances I could personally enjoy this game the most as I died pretty fast, but I really liked how it turned out, its setup and flavor)
