That's interesting news. What does that mean, exactly though, "too long for the time slot"? Like, they couldn't possibly fit it into 20 minutes worth of show, or they didn't realize their story would exceed the number of episodes they were allotted until after the first episode?

Angel Beats! is spread over various media (anime, manga, novels, etc.) because Maeda Jun's original work couldn't be completely covered in a 1-season, 13-episode anime.

Well that may have been the plan all along, but the Angel Beats anime was originally written to be longer than it was. That's why the backgrounds of a lot of characters were just cut out completely.

Of the shows listed, which of the subs are more accurate and/or better?

For Symphogear: I want to say GetWet.
For DxD: I'm more familiar with Hiryuu (used those for some Dog Days episodes) and Hatsuyuki (used them a few times for other shows), but most of the caps are pretty different from each other.

Of course, I could be wrong about my choices.

Just comparing those, there really isn't a perfect group for any of them. Pretty much every group pulls a line out of their ass every now and then and in the case of DxD, there are a ton of groups that are just mistranslating constantly.

I just go with whoever's out first, which has been Commie and SubDESU. Don't particularly care for SubDESU but they've been pretty good for DxD.

Ehhh, Episode 3 wasn't so great. I cannot unsee Tsubasa's walking animation.

I've lost all respect for Hibiki, I mean seriously, that girl cannon read the mood. And I'm starting to like Tsubasa more. But what I don't get is why they're sending someone like Hibiki out there when they have a badass like Genjurou.
And their execution is rather...poor. Instead of having Hibiki go Berserk in episode 2, they do it now? And within seconds she just forgets all about it!

I reallllllly want to know about Chris. I love her look. She must be important to the plot if the ED focuses on her walking.

Oh, and:
Tsubasa = Kanade > 2nd Division Staff = Miku > Hibiki.

Causing Hibiki to go berserk was ruined by the fact she simply snaps out of it later.

While Genjurou is much stronger than Tsubasa and Hibiki, according to the official site, if he were to fight the Noise, his body would turn to dust like all other non-symphogear users.

This show loves ruining my expectations.

If they show a cliffhanger of Tsubasa vs. Hibiki, I expect a Tsubasa vs. Hibiki fight. Even if Genjurou ends up stopping it, as long as they fought for some amount of time it would have been good. My interest was finally piqued when we actually got to see Hibiki go berserk, but then, as commented, she doesn't even remember AND it only lasts for like 10 seconds.

Then there's the completely unnecessary politics element ("zomg, other countries want our tech! International crisis!") and the poorly balanced school elements vs. fighting (after Code Geass, it's really hard to find another show that does it well; I REALLY don't care that she's behind on her homework).

Even the "twist" at the end feels lackluster since they've been spending so much time on the conflict between Tsubasa and Hibiki that "A challenger has appeared!" will just force them to work together and skip past the forced confrontation i.e. we probably get to see Hibiki being a moron and Tsubasa being woe-is-me for another 3 episodes.

The episode started out kinda annoying, but

I'm not sure what all your problems are with Hibiki. I was getting disappointed in her at the beginning of Episode 3, but I grew to like her again near the end. I never expected the berserk thing to go all crazy just yet. Tsubasa has yet to see it.

When it will rage crazily, will be when Tsubasa's there to see it.

I honestly don't see them getting along till that point. But, I could be wrong.

Also, I really hope she tells miku soon enough, secrets just cause bad problems. The enemy will find out anyway.

I still hold onto what may or may not happen near the end.

I am enjoying this show a lot ~ And I see no problem in the balance between school and fighting, but then again I prefer school over fighting in a show like this. Probably because Miku's not fighting. If she were out there, I'd probably want more of a balance. Tsubasa's okay, but meh. I'm more interested in HIbiki and Miku to be honest.
