I appreciate Mr. Akenaga's honesty and also his decision to localize So Long My Love.

They could still release it onto the Xbox Live Arcade. Maybe if the achievements are really easy they could entice achievement whores to buy it just to get easy achievements.

...The article made me sad, but it also made me miss playing Sakura Wars, so I'm going to buy the Wii version. :D (I already played/beat it on the PS2)

Stupid Sony! Oh well, I'm glad they tried on our behalf. Seriously though "It's not a game because there's too much text"?!! REALLY?

He didn't say 1&2 was rejected after SLML; it was just the order of the questions. Sony did approve 5. NISA said at last year's AX they maybe would consider 3 & 4... assuming 5 sold well... which it didn't. I blame the economy, piracy, and outdated platforms.

I maybe a Sony fan but the Sony guys saying that Sakura Wars 1 and 2 are not really a game is a bunch of b.s. Sure there's lots of text but still has quite a good amount of gameplay. Besides even if there is one that has even less gameplay then say Disgaea Infinite I say who cares? People will buy as long as it's good including myself. I say if someone is trying to release something on your platform then I say just let them and don't be so picky about it.

In Sakura Wars So Long My Love's case it was probably a case of like it may have even been to late to release it. If it was released in like say 2007 when the economy didn't go down the drain and people still buying games for PS2, guess what it would of sold better. So now it's like got to hope that 1-4 make its way on PSN somehow.

I am really saddened to hear that Sakura Wars 1+2 will not come out. I find it weird that Sony would turn down the game. Because they say the game is not a game. I like lots of text in my games. You get a good story then.I myself like games like that over shooters.

I am not sure if it will happen but I would like NISA to try to bring out Sakura Wars 1+2. It may not have been able to come out from the other developer. Which on Neogaf it sounds like it was Gaijinworks Victor Ireland's studio. But maybe NISA would have a better chance. The one thing I do not get is when you go to look at Gamestop online or Amazon you see less then 50 PSP games coming out. So I do not get why SCEA would turn down games. So that is why I think NISA should try to bring Sakura Wars 1+2 out.

Because if was Gaijinworks & they tried to submit it for approval a long time ago maybe now Sony will want to allow the game to come out. I just would hate to see this nice series not come out any more because So Long, My Love did not sell that well. So even though it might be a long shot I hope if not soon but some day NISA will take another shot with bringing more Sakura Wars games to North America.

I think that's just the problem Sony is like all well shooters have lots of gameplay but visual novels or just any game with mostly text in them isn't really a game. The way I see it is even if a game has excellent gameplay, and the graphics are awesome, but the story sucks then I say this game is garbage. I require good stories in my games not some half-assed story that looks like there was no real care about making the story and just like focus on the online gameplay only(which a lot of times are usually totally bugged).

I so agree with you Ar Tonelico. I play games for the story. I enjoy good game play too. But the story needs to come first. Because if you have no story you do not get to like the characters. I enjoy shooters but I never play online so what a lot of people say is the best part I pass on. Because I only want to play the story part. That is why I like RPGs, Text adventure, point & Click, Adventure games & Visual Novels.

So when I heard Sakura Wars was going to come out in North America I thought great. So it just sucks that games like Call of Duty are what is selling. I have played the game & won the game in 4 to 6 hours so now what is left to do with the game. Just online play which I don't care about. Even RPGs are not selling well in North America any more. So it sucks that when you finally get a game you want to play & want to support the game so the series will come over more just to find out it did not sell well sucks.

I just hope with Sakura Wars not selling well NISA will not stop trying to bring over games like that. Because I want to be able to try different games that would never have a chance to come out in North America. So even though Sakura Wars did not sell well I am thankful NISA brought it over & tried to see how the game would do in America. Even though it did poorly in sales I am happy I got a chance to play a Sakura Wars game.

I'm not gonna lie and say I'm not a little saddened by this, but I'm not overly shocked either. I just hope this doesn't completely destroy any chance of other SW games making it over here in some form or another (no matter by WHO).

If it helps any, even though the sales may have fallen below the threshold needed to pay for a Wii port and a giant dub, there's the possibility they were good enough that if one of the games gets a PS3 port for the Japanese market, a partial dub might be feasible. Stay optimistic, don't listen to stealth20k, stiff upper lip ol' chap and all that. ;)

Did you change the thread title?

I would be surprised by a PS3 port/remake/sequel; after all, Valkyria had its follow-up downgraded to PSP. And there were some remarks elsewhere but I suppose that's me taking things too hard.

Yes

By the way, what did you think of 1up's billboard charts story? I like the idea if it sorts by genre and doesn't limit to the top 10.

Well, Valkyria Chronicles 2, unless it's magically a hit in the U.S. (it won't be), seems to have turned out to be a bit of a mistake. It only sold slightly more than the original; given the much larger PSP user-base in Japan and excellent word of mouth, must be disappointing for Sega. I can just about guarantee a PS3 sequel would've done better. On the other hand, it seems to be the smaller publishers that are moving back to the PS3 successfully, the larger Japanese publishers still seem to be floundering.

I'll take anything at this point, NPD is getting really frustrating. We don't even need numbers, as long as everything's listed in order, we can get a pretty good idea what's going on, especially when we get numbers on random titles from publishers.

Out of all the anime in the Sakura Wars series, the movie is by far the best. And Orihime gets loads of screen time, so you know it gets my approval. :D
