At least the Vita is Sony, plus there could be some kind of cross interaction with the PS3. Also, the Vita has AR cards too. The Vita is also more capable than the 3DS, allowing for a higher quality game. I'd still rather the series stay on PS3, but if it absolutely had to go portable, I wouldn't mind CH taking the Vita route.

New SMB Wii is low poly but it still is console based (and good thing too).

you know, a co-op side scroller like NSMBWii could be really awesome for HN's 4 CPUs! (and unlockable HNmk2 characters!) :D

but even though I don't like Nintendo these days, I do admit they still have an edge in platforming level design. NSMBWii has the best world maps and stages designs since SMB3 and World. I really hated the two Toads though. They should have made Daisy and Birdo playable at least. And I didn't like that player one couldn't choose their character, basically only players 2-4 can pick their character or something like that. And I hate wireless controllers!!!!

Someone I know plays skyward sword and while playing ,their controls gets unresponsive due to the battery It's stupid. wired controllers completely avoids those problems and waste of time charging/replacing battery.

That's why I don't even bother buying a Wii because they have no option for wired controller, and most of their games don't support gamecube controller (which is actually better designed and more responsive than Wiimotes.) and also more affordable instead of the money you pay for nunchuck and all that nonsense, it's ridiculous.

Aaanyway. so yeah........ Noire/HN3 better not be on a portable.

Well one would expect since it's Sony's mascot in the game it would be on a Sony platform. All the signs would point to this fact.

But Vita is going to be a money pit just like PSP for most developers, especially smaller companies with not that massive of a fanbase like the bigger companies do.

Especially if it's about White Heart/Noire, makes PS3 platform even more obvious choice!

Right now, the PSP is still the money pit for small developers.

well I mean money pit as in money that just basically wasted away with no real profit in return compared to console release.

so yea a money pit is like money thrown in there gives nothing in return. :D

And teh reality is that the PSP is a goldmine for small devs in Japan. If the Vita gets to that point (I suspect it will), then that would make it all the more reason.

Either way, I'd prefer the PS3 as well. Importing's expensive.

And most models appear tiny on screen, not to mention the lower resolution.

As much as I like platformers, I have the feeling most Neptunia fans aren't good at them at all =P

affinity7799 wrote:I really hated the two Toads though. They should have made Daisy and Birdo playable at least.

Miyamoto explained this before and it ended up even more confusing because they thought Peach wasn't playable because their animators were incompetent the way he said it (as he said they would have issues with her dress). Basically the issue is that players would expect the other characters to have a different set of abilities, but Nintendo wanted all characters to play the same (since this affects co-op a lot). The toads were the best solution they could find.

Actually, considering the number of sales of the PSP, it wasn't exactly a small userbase. The problem is that it got cracked practically near launch and developers decided to jump ship because of piracy, which resulted in the platform losing support almost immediately. This is what Sony gets for making it possible to completely nullify the security by just using a battery... (seriously, Sony?)

Price and battery life certainly didn't help either, but now the 3DS also fails miserably at the battery life part (which was the advantage of Nintendo handhelds), so that evens the field a bit for the Vita. Besides it still has to be cracked to the extent the PSP was.

EDIT: oh, also forgot, the Vita at least seems to be doing better in the UK launch than it did in the Japanese launch, at least in terms of proportion: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/1628 ... h_week.php (although of course, we need to see its performance after launch...)

Umm...the PSP didnt' fail because of piracy. And you're complaining because Sony didn't use overly strict levels of security?

I'd prefer if they didn't make security so tight. Pirates will pirate regardless.

They knew about the bug for years (pretty much since the Pandora exploit was found), yet they kept refusing to fix it. They basically left development-only features in the retail firmware... something they could have easily fixed with a patch, and they never bothered doing it. In fact, in one of the models they attempted to "fix" it by making the battery non-removable without breaking a sticker that voids the warranty... as if anybody who mods the system cares about the warranty (and for the record, people found out a way to remove the battery without breaking the sticker - way to go).

We aren't even talking about implementing more strict DRM, we're talking about removing something that was never meant to be there in the first place (that functionality was only meant to be used in devkits).

You can't Pandora a 3000, or the later 2000 models. It was a hardware hack. They had to make a new model to fix the problem, no firmware could ever fix it. Because that's on a software level.

I used to frequent hacker sites, trust me on this.

The Pandora exploit worked by changing the serial number of the battery such that it'd enable debug functionality in the firmware, if I recall correctly. So it had to have some help from the firmware side.

In any case that initial issue eventually made developers so wary of the PSP that they decided to give it very little support in the end. At least that seems to be the case for Western developers. Even if Sony managed to fix it later, it already had made such a bad first impression it was too late and they would have only be able to get their trust back with a new handheld.

Well, the real truth, is that there was also the whole people not buying PSP games over here. In fact, I'd say that would have been the biggest contributor. Cause the PSP was just as cracked in Japan as here, yet it was a bustling market over there, and still is.

I know people who have bought PSPs (namely Gos) for the entire purpose of pirating games on it and absolutely zero intention of buying anything.
Waiting on the other mk2 avatars.

Thats... sad. Everything I own is original, which over the 34 years of my life has come to be about 14 or so binders of disks @_@
