And I'm on the Darc side

Kidding aside, I'd buy both this, and BRS if they have digital options compatible with the Vita

I thiiiink there's a catgirl in the game right? And a vampko is basically a catboy/girl vampire. So, there's the connection : )

Welllll I just pre orderd this...Gungnir on the otherhand is not verry appealing to me so I think i'll overlook that for now.....realy off topic I went on a mad pre order shopping spree today Xenoblade chronicles, the last storey...amazon even has a P4 arena pre order up wich kinda surprised me since the game itself is quite a ways off I think no? I realy need to buy a wii befor I get the games though....
As for this game Growlanser I have to admit after reading about the series I went off and bought the games previously released ....

Wise choice. I hope you like Growlanser. I really can't imagine anyone who likes RPGs not liking this series as it has all of the things good RPGs should have: interesting story, great battle system, romance / relationship building, and some choices that actually have consequences in the game.

Im just a late bloomer towards alot of games I stuck with a few core series for so long I kinda avoided alot of realy good games in the process so now im catching up. Finding the time on the otherhand....

growlanser and gungir are 2 very different types of japanese rpgs

one is more of the tactical variety

the other is more of the strategy variety

A lot of gamers use the terms tactical and strategy interchangeably. For instance, wikipeida redirects to tactical RPG when you search for strategy RPG. Could you explain what you mean by that distinction?

Yes alot of gamers do do that. Incorrectly.

A strategy rpg historically is pure grid. And movement is defined by square grid pieces

a tactical rpg is free roam where you stop at certain points on a map

for example if we were being nit picky

valkyria would be a tactical rpg series, agarest 2 is kinda there too

They're both the same kind of game. You're just nitpicking whether movement range is limited by a tile count on a grid or by distance in a circle.
Waiting on the other mk2 avatars.

I am not the one who created the definitions

Thats why most historical sites write S/T rpg because it is true they are very similar. But they are a different sub sub genre really

personally I dont care. But I like to see both kinds represented

The funny thing is that when it comes down to it, they are both just types of tactical games... I don't think there is such a thing as a true strategy-rpg... Well, I guess that Generations of Chaos and Dragon Force count, but they are definitely rare.

strategy rpgs really started with fire emblem

and tactical started with lagrisser ( or however you spell that)
