Re: Aniplex USA releases standard editions on DVD!

These $30 box sets nowadays are so cheap I wonder how they make any money off them. Now, the only box set I've ever paid $100 for was sCRYed, but I've happily paid $60, $70, $80 and would readily do so again. So Aniplex doesn't necessarily have to be competitive with current pricing, but I do expect a fair and reasonable price. $400+ is neither, and I won't pay it.

Once again, I'll point out that Aniplex ONLY released two series at that price... No one ever seems to mention that they do release other stuff...

Because normal prices are normal and not noteworthy. Outrageous prices draw attention.

And we see how well that worked out for them.

The parent company ditched them, even though they weren't even doing too badly?

They were struggling financially and every anime distributor hated them. The guy from RACS had some very unpleasant things to say about Bandai. He's already starting to say similar things about Aniplex.

Rob has also said some things against TRSI as well... He's quite an opinionated guy. They're my second place to pick up anime/manga if it sells out from TRSI... But I'll never buy them at his inflated OOP prices >_>

Well TRSI is competition, that's inevitable. He usually has good things to say about publishers. Usually.

The Oreimo LE indeed wasn't that poorly priced, heck I bought it and glad I did, even if I haven't gotten round to watching it yet.

I wanna buy the blu ray for Bakemonogatari, but I'll have to wait and see on it's pricing.

Yay finally someone who isn't anti-Aniplex! I'm only anti-Japanese release prices Aniplex.

Well I can understand the hate for Aniplex USA, Oreimo was an exception on value. The Fate/Zero and Madoka pricing is daylight robbery.

Now matter how good of a value you think OreImo was, you were still robbed since they removed content from the release.
