I am having the worst fucking day.
After determining that a new Windows Update for my computer hosed my installation (Win XP Pro x64 Edition, so there's a large possibility this doesn't affect you), I spent an hour attempting to dig out the Windows product key from a nonbootable drive. Upon success, I proceeded to perform a repair install of Windows XP Pro x64-bit Edition, only to find that the install crashes upon detecting my previous installation, I presume due to the updated files it cannot deal with.
Having prepared to install Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on a new 3TB drive, I performed the appropriate surgery to swap to the new hard drive, so I can transfer some of my old data off the old drive without modifying anything (common practice: new OS -> new hdd for this reason). Well, it appears that my combination of hardware is giving the Win7 installer some issues. It's taking forever to autodetect my everything, and when it finally gets to copying files, it does so one thing at a time, spinning the disc down in between files. After about a half hour, I exit the room to take care of something while it does this. Upon returning, I stepped on the power cord, which pulled the case slightly off balance and onto my foot. This fucking hurt, but that's not where it ends. On it's way to my foot, the corner of the case plants itself between my legs, pressing the power button, and forcing the system to shut down mid-install. My computer had fucked me. It literally fucked me. God fucking dammit.... and it's only about 10:40 AM.
