Also, if you're thinking it wouldn't be unbalanced to have them before beating the game, you've obviously not played Dark Hero Days, as Plenair doesn't even fight you, starts at level 100, and can be used to beat the free Sapphire, meaning you now have two level 100 characters from the start.
Yeah, totally not unbalanced.
It also helps prevent the problem where you have a bunch of characters who never say anything as they're not involved in any cutscenes, and allows them to pass off their appearances as completely non-canon easily.
Read my post again; I kept the part about having to beat them to use them. and clearly my concern is more with re-plays than the first time through.
*After beating the game; if you decided to start over, then you're game is already unbalanced at that point as your levels will now be high enough to breeze through the story; and given that we paid for these DLC characters I see no reason why at this point we can't just go back to their maps and beat them again to use them again before the post game phase*
(as for having characters not involved in the cut-scenes...so...that makes up most of your "army" at the start of the game with the extra classes).
Good? Evil? I am what I am; a force of nature.
Overlord? Diety? I wasn't aware I was in charge, I am just the creator.
