Problem with Dlc Characters

Postby Nayuta » Thu Apr 26, 2012 12:33 am

Hello,

Some time ago I bought A few dlc characters "Adell, Gig, Mao and Hi-res Asagi".
The describtion of the dlc says that I could add them to my party in the post game. And now I am in the post game but I dont see the dlc.

I checked if I had to pass a bill. But I dont see those either.

I hope someone can help me with this ?

They're just fights before they're unlocked for the most part. Check the Dimension Guide for them.

I believe SD-Asagi needs to have enough mana to propose the bill to switch her to HD-Asagi. I haven't bought other DLC, so I don't know about them. Make sure you're not in Land of Carnage, I suppose.

this thread increases my worry with using the time travel option to start over now that I have DLC characters.

Which I still don't understand why the maps don't open for them until post-game, they are DLC so why are their maps treated like Post-game instead of like hidden maps from the first 2 games.

I have heard it said (balance) but...if you bought them during your first run...you'd still have to beat them to use them...so chances are until your characters would have been strong enough to beat the last boss anyway you wouldn't be beating the likes of Priere and Gig *even averaging around 130 I barely beat Gig...mostly because he one shot killed half the characters I put out...shouldn't have clustered them I guess LoL*

and if you are doing a repeated run...well most your cast should be strong enough that none of the maps will be a challenge this time and you are just doing this to re-watch the story unfold or try and get a different ending.

What do you mean by 'hidden' maps in the first two games? If you're referring to the maps that take crazy bills to unlock, then they were put into a proper post-game by Disgaea 3, rather then being having to be completed prior to finishing the game.
Also, if you're thinking it wouldn't be unbalanced to have them before beating the game, you've obviously not played Dark Hero Days, as Plenair doesn't even fight you, starts at level 100, and can be used to beat the free Sapphire, meaning you now have two level 100 characters from the start.
Yeah, totally not unbalanced.

It also helps prevent the problem where you have a bunch of characters who never say anything as they're not involved in any cutscenes, and allows them to pass off their appearances as completely non-canon easily.

Read my post again; I kept the part about having to beat them to use them. and clearly my concern is more with re-plays than the first time through.

*After beating the game; if you decided to start over, then you're game is already unbalanced at that point as your levels will now be high enough to breeze through the story; and given that we paid for these DLC characters I see no reason why at this point we can't just go back to their maps and beat them again to use them again before the post game phase*

(as for having characters not involved in the cut-scenes...so...that makes up most of your "army" at the start of the game with the extra classes).

If your party is so strong you can breeze through the main story, why is it so important to have the DLC characters for the 1-2 hour (at most) main story, why don't you just blitz through and reach the end game and unlock them again? I mean, I don't see why anyone would be so hung up on not having their character for the 1% of your total game time that's spent going through the main story.

Remember the 'new cycle' requirement is met even if you lose to a plot-critical character and then restart after getting their ending.
Seeing as you can do that ridiculously early in some games (3 being the fastest I think) then it can still be unbalanced that way.
Sure your created characters don't say anything during cutscenes, but they don't have personalities or voices for all intents and purposes, whereas the DLC characters are actual characters.

Because I bought them, and for fun.

Its not a major issue, just putting it out there; I just don't see a (need), especially in repeat cycles, for the DLC characters to have to be only unlocked in the post game phase.

Well even besides the fact if it is usefull or not or if it makes the game unbalanced. The fact is that I bought them and they dont seem to work.

Does anyone still have something I could do. So they would work.

I would love to help figure this out, but I haven't the slightest idea where to start (since I haven't gotten any DLC). I'm assuming you already tried going to the Cam-pain with Asagi SD, her having at least like 5000 mana, and there's no bill?

For the other characters, I would suggest contacting NISA for support. They have an online submission form available here: http://nisamerica.com/index.php?nav=s

Otherwise, posting on the Customer Service Announcements board will at least get your problem noticed by Houk, if not others, and they can possibly direct you to someone who can help.

EDIT: Also, from this thread, make sure the DLC you bought corresponds to your version of the game. PS3 games are region-free, so it's possible you got the wrong one of NA/EU.
