They do re-use assets, as that's why the voice work for the majority of the game is the same, but they need to make new ones for the extra scenarios.
The only case where this didn't happen was with Afternoon of Darkness, as they re-recorded all of Etan's lines so the voice switch was now consistent throughout the series as well as within itself with the new Etna mode.

Which is not the case with Kyoko and Geoffrey. You cannot do the extra svenarios and convince youself that they are the same person.

I've not played them, so I cant comment on that.
Besides, Etna's rerecording was likely down to the fact she changed voice completely between the first and second games, and being within the main game you couldn't discount it as being a cameo and likely non-canon, so they redid all her lines in the port of it to effectively retcon her voice.

You will be surprise when you do. And it Etna's case, that just show how awesome NISA is ^_^. They have been having some voice acting trouble since Disgaea 4 thought.

I'm guessing you mean since after Disgaea 4, as that had more voice acting than the original Japanese.

Yeah. Thought the quality of voice acting is debatable. The main characters and most of the DLC are perfect, i have no qualms with any of them except Main Hero B, Nisa and And maybe Pram. The voies for the generic characters, some were also perfect, some were lackluster. And most extra voices is the same voice actor doing different quotes, sometimes not even matching the personality they are supoose to be describing. I know they could not have afforded to have more voice sctors, but i think that maybe they could have switched voice actors around. In Disgaea 3 vita, the quality range is even greater, from very good to horrible (The cu sith and holy dragon extra voices to the geomancers two extra voices and both's Ninja's last extra voice. From good to bad)

Just throwing my 2 cents in on the voice thing, I like almost every main characters voice, but holy hell I don't care if you hire a hobo get SOMEONE ELSE to do Generic voices. I've heard so many not-flonnes or Asagi's and the such it's insane.

Also make Zetta suffer a curse where he's mute, Makai Kingdoms spoiled me and Crispin was the only Zetta for me, the guy who replaced him sounds so bored he kills all the fun of that egotistical asshole.

It would be easier to tell you which ones didn't make me twist into a mess. All of the new personality options were nice but 90% of the voices were scratchy, or clearly Mao's VA trying to sound slightly different. Easiest example is Disgaea 4 Asagi in the gunslingers 2 new options

Now that you menon it, you are right, the new gunglingers persona's are Asagi. Ah i see, yeah, some of the new voices are very scrachy. Is like they were not recorded well. What were the voices you enjoyed? My personal ones are the two new personalities for the Cu Sith and Holy Dragon.

By the way, back to the topic, i can safely say that Kyoko's new voice seems to be a place holder for when Nisa can locate the original VA. I just could not get used to that boyish non lady like voice thats souns nothing like she used to. Having a VA like that in a new scenario dedicated to them, even if its just a bit minor, that explains some of their backstory, is just inconceivable.

What? Are you insinuating they'll somehow patch in re-recorded versions of her lines with her previous VA? Somehow I doubt that...

is not imposible. They did that with Asagi and Prier (in Prier case, unfortunately, it was a downgrade) in Disgaea 4. But I'm not insinuating. More like hoping they will. I don't think they themselves are content with having different voice actors for the extra scenarios. These are the people who went out of their way to re record all of Etna's dialogue in Afternoon of Darkness. *shrugs* is not impossible. Plus, something about the left out translation when someone is sleep in By using Cloroform tells me that the gsme will be patched. I don't remember that being in the PS3 version. I like to think to that is a reminder for them to patch the game. But I'm just making wild assumptions here. The game is only a month out. We will see.

Well, you won't see it in the credits for the aforementioned reasons.
