What should the next theme for Disgaea be?

oh i know they are i meant taking place in the current timeline like after 4. infinite is really canon aside from the bottle ending that just leads to phantom brave which is NOT Canon to disgaeas plot. the canon ending is the one that leads to 2 where etna leaves the castle cause of laharl taking her pudding.

im not sure cause the one that leads to 2 seems to be canon to me. I just want a new adventure featuring the original trio they deserve i think.

Don't get me wrong I love laharl/etna/flonne but I feel like it takes away the fun of them running wild in a new disgaea game.

The next theme I feel like should expand out a little and make an enemy so strong that the whole netherverse is in danger not just a single netherworld/human world. This would then leave it open for plenty of old characters to come back and show themselves as friends and foes and add plenty of back story to themselves and their netherworlds as well as the newcomers. Also this would help us see the series be brought together for the first time and maybe we can start to see the bigger picture, see how everything's connected a bit better. For instance in mass effect when you get to fly around to different planets and you feel empowered to help a universe not just one people or planet. I feel a disgaea game would greatly benefit from this. I have plenty of ideas for the mechanics of the game as well but alas that goes into another thread.

you know thats not a bad plot idea have all of them team up cause of a HUUUGE CRISIS to them all. my only annoyance is I will have to see tink again... I really don't want to. I wouldn't mind yukimaru zam.

Only if it turns out that the entire crisis was caused by something Axel did by accident.

I think we are on to something here. Haha I was thinking Baal is finally in the main spotlight as the enemy since he's been in just about every game so it would make sense.

that COULD make sense but the reason he keeps being an extra boss is he would be broken as the final boss of the game. if he was in the spotlight who the hell would be the ultimate baddie? nobody can compare to baal you know really.

if axel did it, it would be fucking hilarious imagine he unleashes the ultimate evil on the netheruniverse thinking it would give him his fame back or something, and in turn becomes posessed and becomes the final boss OR he gets tricked then is a mid-boss like character throughout the game, OR you have to go save him.. well not sure who would probably just if hes there i guess.

but Axel being the cause would fit so very well. Imagine this Laharl,Mao,Addell,and valzy along with there respective parties have to team up in order to save the entire netheruniverse. it would be alot of fun but the only issue i can think of is. THATS WAY TO MANY PARTY MEMBERS so maybe just a few from each universe.

Now as there is no canon for how strong they get, as players play to different points and the story can be interprited in various ways they can safely put past story characters in post game at higher levels,

but remember this is a game, so if you use them early on you need a lower level; remember Disgaea 2 where they had a story reason for Etna to be weaker? Heck even in Phantom Brave they had an excuse for the first fight with Laharl for him to be weaker.

Baal is supposed to be this over the top boss, but that isn't to say he couldn't be the ultimate evil, and still be the final enemy in post game (after all there are false endings and bosses who come back stronger in plenty of games).

They already set up God and the all those aliens in D4. That could lead to something.

you know thats true what if god tries to do away with the netheruniverse to redo it and you have to fight to stop it. so naturally everyone would join in to stop that from happening.

or something like the aliens find out about the other Netherworlds and human worlds and decide to exterminate all the human worlds and the demons.

Maybe have it to where the main character in the new one is a newer overlord who just gets his new netherworld when allllllllll hell breaks loose.
