Non stop games from Nintendo? Maybe if 80% of their games weren't steaming piles of shit, and the games that were actually worth a damn were coming out this year or next year and not 2 - 3 years from now when people stop caring about them.

Didn't they also say that they would slow down with letting shovelware titles in? (well, not in those words of course) Because when I look at the 3DS section in stores, most of them ARE Ubisoft crap :/

A fairly good portion of the games developed by Nintendo first party studios end up critically acclaimed. But I guess if you choose to ignore games like Skyward Sword, the Mario Galaxy games, the Fire Emblem series, Xenoblade, etc, they would look pretty bad.

Criticize them all you want for their hardware, but Nintendo has always been one of the best developers in the industry. I think they'll have a great E3 this year, as long as they play their cards right.

A lot of people sure seem to think their OPINION is law around here :?

I could care less who "wins." It's all opinion anyway.

Very true. Whatever we say regarding the companies is ultimately just opinion; some just seem more volatile with theirs. :P

I wonder if those rumors about Sony buying Gakai are true? I heard they might announce a streaming service for the PS3, so you can stream games right to your console. I think it would be pretty interesting; it's definitely something that would distinguish Sony from their competitors. I still think I'd rather download games than stream them though; I would at least feel like I owned something if I downloaded it. :P

Downloading would always be more popular than streamed gaming, especially considering there are already disk fans against digital downloads even though that is the direction the market is moving. online connections are still not so flawless that streaming would work for most people.

All opinion on your end as well. They've been pretty bleh for me for quite a while now.

The only devs that have impressed me recently have been Gust, CH, and NIS. Japanese devs anyway. Insomniac's been pretty sound, and Bethesda did a great job with Skyrim.

I had acknowledged it was only opinion in my previous post.

The only Gust game I've played is Totori, but I really enjoyed it. Really looking forward to playing Meruru! And CH's made a better impression on me with mk2, which was a huge improvement over the original. Apparently Mugen Souls is going to be at E3 at Tecmo-Koei's booth (for some reason). I'm looking forward to more new info about it, and maybe some new gameplay footage. :D

The market is no more moving there than I am Hitler, it's that companies are "Pushing it there". Not many people actually want it other than the game companies. Personally, I think any company that isn't willing to take a risk by also releasing a physical copy of a game is full of a bunch of pansies... this includes the whole PSP argument.

But that's just me.

Furthermore, from what I have gathered over the past year or so.
A good majority of people don't trust digital only as well, which stems from the fact hat we now have updates. As such, some people fear that they could be locked out of their purchased music because of an expired license, or because a developer feels a game is no longer relevant/worth supporting.

I mean just look what EA is doing with some of their iOS games! When they take them off the store, you can't play the copy you already purchased as they disable it, that's kind of-- oh I dunno. FREAKING ILLEGAL.

So who's to say a developer won't issue a kill code through an update, to disable the game once they fill it has been through it's life span?

I'm willing to bet that some greedy bastard will come up with that idea some time down the line, eventually it might even become common practice. Like licenses for computer software, or subscriptions to MMOs, anti-viruses, and premium online services. It's only a matter of time, y'know.

What would you do if you purchased the right to play a game through a cloud based service, streaming it to your console, but then it is removed from the service abruptly. In turn, disallowing you to play what you purchased? Personally, I'd be mad as hell.

So all that said, I'd rather have physical proof; not just a receipt, that I own my copy of a game.

I find myself not playing games as far back like a lot of gamers do. Like how I'm selling all my PS2 games (well, working on it, still have quite a few to get rid of). It's not only to get money out of them, but that I really just don't play them anymore. I like having physical copies though too. I dunno, I think I'm just hungry right now xD

Yeah, I think that the reason I dislike nintendo consoles so much is that they haven't released anything that impresses me like stuff released by NIS, Gust, CH, Bethesda, and some of the other stuff...and most of the developers I listed are PS exclusive, or multiplat between PS and 360, meaning I have no reason to like nintendo, except for my enjoyment of pokemon games still

@vamp - yeah, thats why I end up selling most of my old games as well...if I play em to death before the next generation comes out, it is better to free up some space by selling games to those that would actually still enjoy em

As for the digital release stuff, it sure as heck isn't moving in the direction of being the most popular method of buying a game, thats for sure...just look at the examples listed in this thread...just look at the obvious reasons that the PS4 ISN'T gonna be DDL only :P

It's the opposite with me; I always hold on to my old games unless I don't like them, and then I trade them in to the local used game store to get... more old games. xD

While you may be selling your PS2 games, I'd like to build up a PS2 collection at some point, but I just don't have the money right now. Especially since there's a lot of other older, rare games I want to get copies of... XP
