@Ke-Y - Great job as always on the costume! :D I see that my request for Meiya's battle suit is up there now, so I was wondering if you needed more pictures or are you find with what you have now?

Most likely not. The mk2 template could not, so I doubt the V template can. That is also why some of us are wondering if it is going to be one template for everyone, or a different, if similar, template for each character.

Thanks for the reply, that makes a lot of sense. What program do you use to edit the templates?

I have been using Gimp for the last few costumes. The Black Rock Shooter Anime version I used Paint (the image editing software that comes pre-installed on windows), which btw was hell.

I present you Racing Miku 2011 Costume!

The hardest part of this costume is to get the translucent gradient to work and making the costume look all latex like. The "skirt" thing was shrunk down to make it fit on Nepgear and with that being shrunk, the barcode like design across the skirt was removed, it would look too messy even if included anyway, but I kept the sigil at the back.

This topic has inspired me to give it a shot, so I will probably be posting a lot of questions while I try to figure it out.

**IGNORE THIS**Alright, just got back home, fired up Gimp, tried to open the template... and already ran into a problem. The template on the first post that is a .psd file is supposed to be what we use to edit? It is giving me an error when I attempt to load it; "Error loading PSD file: Unexpected end of file". Am I using the wrong file or is something else going wrong?**IGNORE THIS**

Edit: got the template from the mk2 website and it is working fine. Sorry for asking a stupid question, but I will most likely be asking many more in the near future.

Ok, this is getting extremely frustrating, so I'm going to stop tinkering with it tonight. Can you try to explain your method for making the costumes and maybe some of the tools you find to be the best to use? I figured out how to manipulate the layers pretty well, but I am having a very difficult time trying to edit them in any sort of decent fashion.

Some problems I am currently having:
1) Trying to put my own colors on a layer in a design I desire.
2) Trying to paint in a selected segment in a solid color; it fades in certain parts, I believe to match the proper dimensions and I am having trouble stopping it from doing that. It could also be a texture issue, though I tried to pick one that was solid.

The last thing I was trying to do was take the base 'shell' of clothing and just remove segments of that to make the designs I desire instead of trying to make a whole new custom layer. However even that was proving problematic, because I couldn't find a tool that I could make function as virtual shears to cut away the clothing in areas. On the plus side however, I read through some of the Help guide, learned a bit about the functionality, and have a better understanding now of -how- it is supposed to work; I'm just having a lot of trouble making it work.

If you're trying to build a costume from scratch, you're definitely more ambitious that I am. About the solid color thing, I've had problems like that too. Just keep filling in that segment a couple times with the color you want. You will still have a little fading/blurriness around the edges, though, but not much. About the 'shearing' thing, you can use one of the select tools, select what you don't want, and delete that section. I'm not sure if that's what you want, but ....

You learn how to do things better and quicker the more you work with it. Just a lot of trial and error.

Thanks for the complements guys. That made my day! :D

@Aphrah - You forgot to add the Racing Miku 2011 costume to the first post. XD

@Luffione - Nope, I don't need any more. It has all the things I need. Thanks for asking though.

@Libra - I really don't know how to respond to your post....

@namtap - Either versions are pretty good, but if I have to choose, I would go with the v2 because the dark blue around the long gloves area in v1 is too saturated. Maybe you can mute it down a bit like say gray blue instead of just pure blue.

@BDSMKane - The templates does not allow you to modify the physical shapes of the character, if it could, I would have went in and fixed all the characters' proportions to match closer to their illustrations. The template only allows you to 'reskin' the characters like you said. As for whether all the goddesses will share the same template or not, it all depends on how smart they go about making the template for all the goddesses since their suit are still a bit different in various areas. So you are looking at possibly only being able to tailor make a costume for each individual goddess and not being able to share the it amongst the others.

As for your frustration with using Gimp, sorry I can't help you as I have never used it before. The programs I use are Photoshop and Painter. All I can say is like what namtap said, just a lot of trial and errors. I had to do that for myself too. The school never taught us Photoshop and Painter, they expected us to know them already. So it was really tough, but if you are persistent and don't give up, I am sure you will work something out. Just so you know, I couldn't draw or paint one bit when I first went to the art school I attended. So don't get demotivated, your time spent will definitely worth the while.

Thank you namtap032892 and Ke-y for the feedback. I will try and mess around with it some more in between jobs tonight, and hopefully I will be able to at least create something.

Ok, making positive progress, editing away parts of layers to customize the design to my wishes. I was wondering though, is there a way to select a diagonal section or triangular section? I have been using the rectangle select tool and free select tool to chop away parts of one layer, but I'm trying to do some precision cuts at an angle, and having some trouble finding the right tool for it. Any suggestions on the right tool to use or is there a way to tilt the rectangles?
